Job summary

Groupe SM Tardif Inc. is seeking a Technical Coordinator for its metal fabrication division. The role requires a DVS in Welding and Fitting, 5+ years in steel structures, strong blueprint interpretation, and proficiency with Excel and Mobilis.

You will review drawings, collaborate with detailers and project managers, support production launches, optimize programs, and contribute to continuous improvement as a technical resource for the shop floor. English is an asset.

Qualifications

• Diploma of Vocational Studies in Welding and Fitting or relevant training.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in steel structures or metal fabrication.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate customer drawings for compliance with standards and manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate with detailers, estimators, and project managers to ensure manufacturability.
• Participate in technical reviews prior to production launch and identify risks or discrepancies.
• Optimize and adjust production programs to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Assist in assembly trials, conduct validations, and suggest adjustments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing methods and practices.
• Serve as a technical resource for production and manufacturing teams.

Profile sought

• Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in Welding and Fitting, or relevant training in the field;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in steel structures or metal fabrication;
• Strong ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols;
• Comfortable with computer tools, including Excel, the Mobilis suite, and traceability tools;
• Demonstrated autonomy, resourcefulness, and excellent technical judgment;
• Strong attention to detail and rigor;
• Team-oriented mindset;
• Knowledge of English (an asset).

Roles and responsabilities
