The role requires 5+ years in quality management in heavy industry, a related bachelor’s degree, and certifications such as Six Sigma.

Qualifications

  • Experience in casting or metallurgy-based operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality metrics, supplier and subcontractor quality data.
  • Provide technical support related to quality for plant personnel.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation and procedures.
  • Lead quality audits and liaise with external auditors or regulators.
  • Maintain KPI dashboards to track performance and customer service levels.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Overview:

The Quality Manager is responsible for administering the company quality control program in accordance with customer and company requirements; including the responsibility to reduce scrap in the manufacturing process and to eliminate customer returns.

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality control systems to ensure that products and processes meet or exceed established standards.

Here’s what you will do:
  • Responsible for directing and planning all Quality functions.
  • Promote a Quality-first culture across all departments.
  • Managing the requirements from the customer scorecard, proactively reporting results, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage the overall costs of the Quality Metrics, suppliers, vendors, and sub-contractor Quality Metrics
  • Provide technical support to the plant personnel as it relates to quality.
  • Responsible for overall department outputs, staffing, and developing the technical competency of the department and product lines.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update quality documentation, including policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Manage certifications, quality audits, and liaise with external auditors or regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain a dashboard of metrics that will track and demonstrate key performance drivers and accurately demonstrate customer service levels.
  • Develop/introduce a Quality Improvement roadmap and help to lead the change.
  • Develop/lead team-based Quality Problem Solving training to help drive continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate process improvement projects to reduce waste, costs, and lead times.
  • Work with Scheduling and Operations to develop and implement short-term and long-term plans and strategies based on project needs.
  • Development, generation, and analysis of key operational KPI's as it relates to Quality performance.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
  • Compliance with all company, ISO 9001, and government procedures and guidelines.
Here’s what we are looking for:
  • 5+ years of experience in a quality management role with some experience in a heavy industrial setting
  • Post-secondary education in Quality Management, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other related field of study is required.
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt), ISO Lead Auditor, or similar are preferred.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy or alloys‑based production environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in casting or other metallurgy‑based operations or related environments is required.
  • Proven experience implementing and managing QMS frameworks. Considerable knowledge with ISO 9001 is required.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, CAPA).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and quality management tools.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a proven ability to coach and mentor junior employees.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to interact with internal teams, customers, and suppliers effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
  • Personable, energetic and curious.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Proactive and results‑driven mindset to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and industry‑specific quality requirements.
  • Ability to work in hot environments is required.
