Job summary

Superior Cabinets is seeking a Quality Assurance Lead Hand to provide technical and hands-on support across departments, with a focus on product quality and continuous improvement. You will lead Quality technicians, coordinate inspections, and collaborate with cut/finish and assembly teams to uphold standards.

You will manage QA data, develop reports, and drive Kaizens using Lean Six Sigma tools, while ensuring timely action on substandard quality across internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
  • ASQ-ISO lead-auditor training is an asset.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead teams in Kaizens and problem solving.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing to support multiple departments, including external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the Quality technicians.
  • Follow up on White Glove jobs and complete inspections with Quality technicians.
  • Perform daily quality checks in case Quality Technicians are absent.
  • Train on quality standards with cutting/finishing and assembly inspectors.
  • Manage the Quality KPI/Metrics scorecard and quality data sources (warranty, audits, daily tracker).
  • Generate quality-specific reports and PPTs as required.
  • Represent Quality at applicable meetings.
  • Oversee document control including the master index spreadsheet.
  • Develop and revise departmental Quality documents (policies, SOP, OPL).
  • Develop QMS with the Quality Manager for Superior Cabinets.
  • Use quality data/ Pareto to identify issues and address them with Lean Six Sigma, including Kaizens.
  • Address substandard quality using the PDCA approach with stakeholder feedback.

Job description

Objective: The Quality Assurance Lead Hand provides technical and hands-on support across all departments depending on daily operational needs. Includes supporting end customer , sales and stores. Key objectives in the role are to enhance overall quality of the product produced and guide the plant s focusing on areas of improvement.

Reports to: Quality Supervisor

Direct Reports: Quality technicians

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the Quality technicians.
  • Follow up on White Glove jobs and complete inspections along with Quality technicians.
  • Perform daily quality checks incase Quality Technicians have absences.
  • Work with cutting/finishing and assembly inspectors to train on quality standards.
  • Manage the Quality KPI/Metrics scorecard including the development and support of all Quality data sources (warranty, external auding, daily team tracker).
  • Generate Quality specific report and PPT's asrequired.
  • Represent Quality at all applicable meetings.
  • Oversee the document control process including managing the master index spreadsheet.
  • Develop and revise departmental Quality documents as required-policies , SOP, OPL etc.
  • Working with the Quality Manager, develop Superior Cabinets QMS-Quality Management System.
  • Use Quality data/pareto information to identify ongoingtop issues and act using lean methodology/six sigma to address those issues, including leading Kaizens.
  • Take action to address substandard quality identified either internally or externally. Use the PDCA approach to address the opportunities and ensure adequate feedback to key stakeholders.
  • Perform Quality A ssurance new E mployee orientation as required .

Skills & Abilities:

  • A minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Lean Belt or Six Sigma certification would be considered an asset.
  • ASQ-ISO lead-auditor training would be considered an asset.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills .
  • Ability to take directions and execute tasks and projects on time while ensuring quality of work and meeting targets.
  • Strong ability to lead teams to execute Kaizens and problem solve.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new tasks and changing priorities.
  • Physically fit, able to lift to 50lbs.
  • The willingness to learn and support multiple departments, including external customers.
  • Reliable, punctual and a strong team player.
