Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the Quality Inspector - Lead Hand will report to the Director, Quality and Continuous Improvement and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on the quality control inspections of products.
What You’ll Do:
The successful candidate should be a team worker, punctual, proactive, outgoing and dependable. As a full-time Quality Inspector - Lead Hand, you will perform the following tasks:
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of inspectors for incoming, in-process and final inspection of electronic and electromechanical assemblies, subassemblies, parts and components.
- Conduct visual quality check on product, packaging, and documentation to ensure conformance to Purchase Order requirements along with drawing and specification requirements and to detect any FOD and Counterfeit products at receiving Inspection.
- Participate in the daily Tier review process as the lead for inspection.
- Lead the Lean Program activities for the Inspection Team to meet annual goals.
- Perform first article, in-process and final inspections using precision tools.
- Support the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams in dispositioning non-conformances.
- Perform containment activities to support internal or external investigations and corrective actions.
- Conduct minor rework including bench work, blending, de-burring & dressing.
- Resolve problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity.
- Train inspectors in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
- Ensure company safety rules and regulations are followed.
- Prepare departmental reports and metrics.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Who You Are:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aerospace industry relating to inspection of product and familiarity with aerospace parts and assemblies, manufacturing (machining, welding etc.) and assembly processes (CCAs and Cable Harness).
- Minimum of 2 years of College or University in a technical-related discipline or related experience
- Experience interpreting drawings, technical documents, purchase orders, etc.
- Certification in IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-J-STD is preferred
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and GD&T
- Understanding of Military specifications
- Experience in Lean Six Sigma tools
- Knowledge of Statistical process control methods
- Experience in CMM and Vision system operation
- Knowledge of ANSI/ASME/ASTM standards
- Knowledge of different manufacturing methods
- Knowledge of AS9100 will be an asset
- Must be able to legally work in Canada at the time of application
