Agropur is looking for a Quality Control Supervisor to join is Burnaby team for a 14-month contract.
The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily quality control operations, ensuring that all products meet internal and regulatory quality standards. This role oversees the QC team, ensuring effective sampling, testing, and analysis, while driving continuous quality improvement initiatives. The QC Supervisor collaborates with production teams to resolve quality issues and plays a key role in audit readiness and compliance with food safety regulations.

Salary range 004: 74 900$ to 93 600$ (Salary will be determined based on skills, education, training & experience related to the position.)
What’s involved in this role:
More specifically, the Quality Control Supervisor’s responsibilities will include:
Supervise QC technicians, ensuring proper execution of testing and inspection of raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
Oversee daily sampling and testing activities, ensuring alignment with the plant’s quality plan and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)/Food Safety Plan Process Controls (PC’s).
Manage quality control documentation, including Certificates of Analysis (COAs), testing reports, and calibration records and electronic system reports.
Provide supporting analysis for root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions for non-conforming products or lab related processes.
Ensure preventative maintenance and replacement program for lab equipment is maintained, and that laboratory safety standards are met.
Lead internal audits and prepare the site for external audits, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Provide feedback regarding testing capabilities integrated with specification requirements and new product and process development.
Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality-related issues and improve product consistency and food safety.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends related to quality control, including lab efficiency, product performance, and testing accuracy.
Act as the main point of contact during customer, regulatory, and third-party audits for QC related responsibilities.
Assist in the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to quality control.
Ensure continuous quality improvement by analyzing quality trends and implementing quality process improvements.
Maintain communication with procurement to ensure inventory of lab supplies is adequate and necessary materials and equipment are available.
Provide feedback and reports to management team regarding quality performance, technical efficiencies, and cost saving opportunities
Oversee the cleaning and sanitation program. Collaborate with other departments to ensure cleaning and sanitation is conducted on schedule and effectively.
Manage QC staff Schedule and task assignments, ensure QC department provides sufficient support for site operation.
Train and mentor QC staff, ensuring they are proficient in testing protocols, quality procedures, and food safety standards.
What you need to join our team
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field required.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in quality control in the food or manufacturing industry required.
Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
HACCP certification preferred.
SQF Practitioner or PCQI certification (an asset).
Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, and field-specific software.
