Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. is a growing Edmonton-based civil construction company with more than four decades of experience delivering complex projects throughout the region.

From earthworks and underground utilities to parks, sports facilities, site development and environmental construction, our projects require people who understand that quality isn't something you check at the end—it needs to be built into the work from the beginning.

We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Manager to take ownership of Wilco's construction quality program and help us continue raising the standard across our projects.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than a job title. You'll have the opportunity to build systems, work directly with Project Managers and Superintendents, develop people, identify opportunities for improvement, and have a real impact on how Wilco delivers its projects.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, implement and manage Wilco's construction Quality Control program.
  • Establish consistent QC standards and processes across our projects and crews.
  • Lead and support QC Coordinators, Inspectors and field personnel.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen and Safety to integrate quality into daily construction activities.
  • Oversee quality inspections for earthworks, underground utilities, concrete, structural work, landscape/site development and other civil construction activities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts and project requirements to identify quality requirements and inspection points.
  • Coordinate testing and inspection activities and ensure required documentation is completed accurately.
  • Confirm materials and construction activities meet project specifications and client requirements.
  • Identify deficiencies, develop corrective actions and follow through to completion.
  • Maintain quality records, inspection reports, test results, deficiency reports and other QA/QC documentation.
  • Conduct internal audits and identify opportunities to reduce rework and improve project delivery.
  • Work with project teams to identify recurring quality issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Provide coaching and training to employees on quality procedures and expectations.
  • Monitor quality trends and provide meaningful information to management to support better decision‑making.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Alberta legislation, municipal requirements, engineering specifications and project‑specific quality requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the company.
  • Education or certification in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Quality Management or a related field would be an asset.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in construction quality control, preferably in civil/heavy civil construction.
  • Experience leading or supervising QC personnel is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of earthworks, underground utilities, concrete and civil construction practices.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documents.
  • Experience developing or implementing QA/QC programs, inspection plans and quality documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction tolerances, testing requirements and deficiency management.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, consultants and clients.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to identify issues before they become expensive problems.
  • Comfortable using technology, construction management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • RRSP matching program.
  • Career development and collaborative opportunity for growth.
