Job summary

Irving Shipbuilding seeks a Combat & Electrical Systems Quality Control Inspector to ensure naval combat systems meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards. You will collaborate across teams to secure approvals and drive project acceptance, overseeing quality from start to finish and acting on NCRs/CARs as needed.

Role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, Red Seal or equivalent, and familiarity with MS Office and SharePoint.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in quality control and inspections on complex builds.
  • Experience with combat systems or shipbuilding is preferred.
  • MS Office & SharePoint proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of all work to ensure compliance with specifications and hold points.
  • Liaise with customer and internal teams to verify satisfaction and secure sign-off for milestones and final acceptance.
  • Evaluate specifications and hold points to integrate into production processes.
  • Verify progression of activities as complete by production in the 98% report.
  • Perform routine shipboard inspections to ensure safety, water ingress and housekeeping standards.
  • Prepare NCRs and CARs to address deviations from quality standards.
  • Complete all turnover documentation in alignment with the ITP.

Step into a critical role where precision meets purpose. As a Combat & Electrical Systems Quality Control Inspector, you’ll be the driving force behind ensuring cutting-edge combat systems are built right the first time, meeting the highest standards of safety, performance, and compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to secure approvals and deliver seamless project acceptance, all while overseeing quality from start to finish. Your work directly supports mission-ready outcomes, backed by rigorous ISO standards, real-time monitoring, and decisive action through NCRs and CARs when needed. This is more than inspection, it’s about owning quality, influencing excellence, and playing a vital role in delivering world-class naval capability.


Responsibilities


  • Conduct thorough inspections of all work to ensure compliance with specification and applicable hold points.

  • Liaise with customer and internal teams to verify satisfaction and secure sign off for project milestones and final acceptance.

  • Evaluate specifications and 1379’s to identify and incorporate necessary hold points into the production process.

  • Verify activities progressed as complete by production in the 98% report.

  • Perform routine shipboard inspections to ensure all areas are free from potential hazards, water ingress and housekeeping standards are consistently upheld.

  • Prepare NCRs and CARs to address any deviation from quality standards.

  • Complete all documentation required for turnover to the customer in alignment with the ITP.


Qualifications


  • Red Seal trade certification, in associated trade (welding, pipe fitting, electrical, electronics, machining, mechanical) or equivalent experience.

  • CWB, NACE training considered an asset.

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience required.

  • Previous experience or training in combat systems onboard a naval vessel considered an asset.

  • Inspection experience in a shipbuilding setting considered an asset

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite and SharePoint required.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.


Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).


Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
