Summary
The Quality Assurance Specialist position is for a very well-organized and initiative-taking individual that thrives on excellence who can continually enhance the overall production process to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. The successful candidate will provide quality assurance that products and services comply with customer, ISO 9001, SKF Group and regulatory requirements through the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System of the organization.
This is an ideal position for a diligent individual who is interested in playing an active role in advancing our current quality and manufacturing processes by supporting the deployment of a Zero-Defect strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures the conformance of the manufactured products according to the defined and applicable specifications (quality control plan), including by running audits specified by our Quality Management System, to ensure the quality of the products delivered to our customers.
- Ensures that all non-conforming parts, from supply chain or manufacturing processes are identified, segregated, and disposed accordingly, by initiating and closing non-conformance reports (NCR with root cause identification) in a timely manner.
- Manages the non-conforming material (supplied or manufactured) from end-to-end process (Supplier to Production), as well as, the ERP system transactions, returns to suppliers, concession, and scrap processes.
- Performs SPC (Statistical Process Control) from data collected by Production.
- Measures First Pass Yield and leads working sessions to improve the efficiency of control plans & defined procedures.
Project and Customer Quality
- Acts as a liaison for customer complaints, quality inquiries, and customer returns (warranty/non-warranty repairs) and provides Corrective Actions (CAPA), 8D reports, and Failure Analysis reports (FA) as needed, to prevent recurrence.
- Participates in project teams to implement QA & QC processes like quality standards, process control plans, process capability, and repeatability, according to project needs and customer expectations.
Continuous Improvement and Cross-disciplinary Activities
- Conducts risk assessments to identify potential hazards or failure points in the process that may affect quality. Develops and applies plans to mitigate risks and ensure high-quality standards throughout manufacturing.
- Uses lean six sigma tools for ensuring and improving product and process quality, and employs problem-solving techniques for resolution.
- Provides quality data for developing and maintaining Quality KPIs and scorecards, and supports CoPQ implementation.
- Conducts internal audits (QMS, processes, products) per SKF audit program and supports external audits.
- Participates in creating and reviewing QMS procedures.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives within the quality department.
- Conducts training for employees on quality standards, safety, and best practices.
- Performs other quality-related duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
- 3-5 years of experience in Quality roles
- Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
- Certified ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor
- Strong knowledge in Lean Manufacturing, analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with problem-solving tools like 7QC tools, 5-WHY, 8D
- Knowledge of electrical and electronics manufacturing processes (PCBAs, PCBs, wire harnesses, etc.)
- Statistical Process Control expertise
- Ability to promote continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaboration skills with other departments
- Excellent computer skills, especially MS Excel, scripting (Python, VBA)
- Leadership in cross-functional teams for quality improvement
- Meticulous, organized, self-motivated
- Curiosity and willingness to learn
- Effective communication skills
- Occasional travel may be required
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic measurement tools
Additional Assets
- Programming skills, API interfacing
- Use of CMM, mechanical measurement tools, calibration knowledge
- Familiarity with industry standards (IPC, ISO, UL, IEC)
