The Ontario Pension Board (OPB) administers the Public Service Pension Plan (the PSPP), a major defined benefit pension plan sponsored by the Government of Ontario. We are seeking a seasoned system and application testing professional to provide oversight and technical leadership to the internal IT and external vendor test teams. Responsibilities include system and application testing support activities such as test environment management, maintaining testing strategies/approaches, introducing and maintaining automated testing practices, organizing and controlling testing processes, developing QA processes and procedures, and ensuring all relevant testing documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate, plan, and manage testing support and protocols.
  2. Facilitate conversations with stakeholders to ensure IT standards and business demands are effectively aligned.
  3. Support IT and related projects by coordinating, planning, controlling, and tracking testing activities.
  4. Support continuous improvement by enhancing testing quality and efficiency, developing and implementing automated testing, test management tools, shift-left testing practices, and agile testing approaches.
  5. Work with Application Support Analysts to provide technical expertise and guidance on industry best testing practices.
  6. Assist in system planning, management, and execution by creating scripting languages.
  7. Collaborate across business units to provide governance and guidance for QA activities such as User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Post Deployment Validation.
Key Qualifications
  1. Post-secondary education in IT, computer sciences, or equivalent experience.
  2. At least 5 years of practical experience in a QA role involving the creation and execution of test plans.
  3. Knowledge of hardware, software, and methodologies for effective evaluation; expertise in systems development methodologies and industry trends.
  4. Experience with automated testing tools and creating automated test suites.
  5. Strong analytical skills to assess requirements and develop effective testing strategies.
  6. Understanding of software development lifecycle and testing practices in Waterfall or Agile environments.
  7. Excellent communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder engagement.
  8. Good time management and organizational skills.
  9. Ability to build and maintain client relationships and deliver excellent client service.
  10. Willingness to stay informed on new technologies and industry standards; hands-on technical leadership.
  11. Resilient, adaptable, and able to handle shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
