Position Summary: Reporting to the QA & CI Manager, the QA & CI Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality while continuously improving manufacturing and distribution processes. This position supports quality system management, compliance, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and CI initiatives across departments.
Responsibilities
Quality Assurance:
- Monitor product and process quality across manufacturing and distribution.
- Report Quality findings, trends, and analysis to QA & CI Manager and site owners.
- Ensure all sites adhere to documented quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, GMP, HACCP depending on product type).
- Conduct and/or support internal audits and assist in external audit preparedness.
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Manage document control, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality records.
- Inspect incoming raw materials (including recycled inputs) and finished goods.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Periodically visit 3rd party manufacturers and spot check product quality at source.
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI initiatives to optimize manufacturing and logistics.
- Collect and analyze data to identify inefficiencies or areas for process improvement.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standard work practices.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through training and engagement.
- Report on KPIs and suggest actions based on performance trends.
Communications:
- Serve as a communication bridge between QA/CI, production, logistics, and 3rd party manufacturers.
- Create and deliver clear internal communications regarding SOP changes, quality alerts, and improvement initiatives.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.
- Support the rollout of training sessions and internal quality campaigns.
- Ensure consistent documentation and communication of QA/CI findings across departments.
- Assist with cross-department meetings, updates, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in quality, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a QA role within manufacturing (preferably consumer goods or recycling-based).
- Knowledge of quality standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies; certification is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with MS Office and quality management software (e.g., QMS platforms).
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of Quality Standards: ISO 9001 (or other applicable standards such as IATF-16949, ISO 14001, GMP, or HACCP depending on products)
- Internal Auditing: Ability to conduct audits, create audit plans, and document findings.
- Familiarity with CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) systems.
- Inspection & Testing Techniques: Sampling plans (AQL), Use of measurement tools (calipers, gauges, etc.), Visual and functional product inspections.
- Root Cause Analysis Tools: Fishbone diagrams (Ishikawa), 5 Whys, Pareto analysis
- Lean Manufacturing Principles: 5S, Kaizen, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping
- Six Sigma Concepts (even at Yellow Belt level): DMAIC framework, Basic statistical analysis
- Process Mapping & Optimization: Creating workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and eliminating waste.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Using data to track defect rates, lead times, process variation, etc.
- Microsoft Office Suite: Word & PowerPoint: for SOPs, training documents, and reporting
- ERP/MRP Systems: Experience with systems like SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar for inventory, production, and quality tracking.
- Document Management: Managing version-controlled SOPs, work instructions, training records.
- Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR): Logging, tracking, and reporting deviations in process or product.
