The Local QSHE Manager (LQM) is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Kuehne + Nagel Integrated Management System across assigned Business Unit(s). The role ensures compliance with Quality, Safety, Health, Environment, Dangerous Goods (DG), and Security requirements, aligned with internal KN standards, customer expectations, and applicable regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GxP, Health Canada, and Transport Canada TDG). This role includes oversight of operations handling Dangerous Goods (DG) and requires strong understanding of Dangerous Good regulations and policies, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations site implementation, and risk management in addition to understanding of the National Fire Code Framework. The LQM acts as a site-level governance lead and business partner, ensuring audit readiness, driving compliance performance, and influencing operational teams without direct authority.

How you create impact
Health, Safety & Risk Management
  • Ensure implementation of KN Canada Health & Safety Program and regulatory requirements
  • Support and influence the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) in:
    • Monthly meetings and inspections
    • Annual rack inspections and safety reviews
  • Oversee key activities including:
    • Job Safety Analysis (JSA) / Job Safety Reports
    • Incident and accident investigations (root cause + corrective actions)
    • Emergency response preparedness (evacuation plans, drills)
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance using HSE tools and trend reporting
Environmental Management
  • Support and ensure implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Coordinate with Environmental Champion and GFCC users to:
    • Maintain environmental risk assessments
    • Support environmental campaigns and awareness
    • Ensure compliance with waste, emissions, and sustainability programs
  • Support execution of:
    • Spill drills (biannual)
    • LEP, GFCC reporting, and environmental initiatives
Risk Management & Business Continuity
  • Ensure completion and maintenance of risk assessments across:
    • Health & Safety
    • Environmental
    • Dangerous Goods
    • Business Continuity (BCP)
    • Security and operational processes
  • Maintain and update Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and support annual tabletop exercises Page 4 of 5
Documentation & System Governance
  • Ensure maintenance, document control and retention for all local forms, work instructions, Training Matrix, Vendor Lists, customer SOPs through KNDocs.
  • Ensure documentation is:
    • Current, controlled, audit-ready, and aligned with operational practices
  • Support implementation and updates for new and existing sites
QSHE Governance
  • Provide oversight of site-level QSHE governance structures, including:
    • JHSC activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, meeting participation, inspections, and action follow-up
    • Environmental Champion and GFCC activities, including risk assessments, reporting, and EMS compliance
    • DG Specialists/Coordinators, ensuring compliance with KN DG Program, TDG regulations, and operational controls
    • Security roles, including controlled goods management, access control, and security requirements
  • Ensure designated QSHE roles are trained, clearly defined, and operating in line with KN standards and regulatory requirements
What we would like you to bring
3.1 Recommended Professional Experience for this role
  • 3-5+ years of progressive QSHE (Quality, Security, Health & Safety, Dangerous Goods, Environmental) experience, preferably within logistics, distribution, or regulated industries.
  • 3-5+ years experience in Logistics Distribution Facility.
  • University/College Degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or Safety Engineering
3.2 Knowledge required
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and EN9100 as applicable), including Integrated Management System (IMS) principles and audit requirements
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks, including GxP, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations
  • Strong understanding of Dangerous Goods (DG) classification, storage, handling, and risk management principles, including awareness of National Fire Code requirements for storage and segregation.
  • Familiarity with DG-related systems and tools (e.g., SDS platforms, DG data management systems) is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of KN QSHE policies, standards, and operational work instructions
  • Knowledge of QSHE systems and tools, including Incident Reporting, Security Reporting, and training systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
3.3 Skills required

Base wage is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and dental benefits, a retirement savings plan, and tuition reimbursement. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
