QNX Software Systems Limited in Ottawa is recruiting an experienced Licensed 308A Sheet Metal Worker to join the permanent fabrication team. You will fabricate standard and custom HVAC ductwork, read drawings, and operate shop-based equipment in a controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario 308A Sheet Metal Worker Certificate of Qualification.
• Experience in HVAC sheet metal and ductwork fabrication.
• Strong sheet metal layout, forming and assembly skills.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, measurements and specifications.
• Experience operating sheet metal fabrication machinery and equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate standard and custom HVAC sheet metal ductwork, fittings and components.
• Manufacture transitions, elbows, offsets and other custom sheet metal products.
• Read and interpret drawings, sketches, plans, measurements and fabrication specifications.
• Lay out, measure, mark, cut, form, bend, assemble and finish sheet metal components.
• Operate sheet metal fabrication machinery, hand tools and power tools safely and accurately.
• Inspect finished work to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
• Identify and correct fabrication issues where required.
• Provide practical guidance and hands-on support to apprentices and helpers.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe shop environment.
• Follow established health and safety procedures.

Job description

Our client is a well-established organization within Ottawa's plumbing, heating, HVAC and mechanical industry, supporting contractors throughout the region with products, technical expertise and custom fabrication services.
They are currently looking for an experienced Licensed 308A Sheet Metal Worker / Tinsmith to join their Ottawa fabrication team on a permanent, full-time basis.
This is a shop-based position focused on the manufacture of standard and custom sheet metal ductwork and HVACponents. It offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced tradesperson looking for long-term stability, guaranteed full-time hours, predictable working conditions and an excellent overallpensation package.

• Permanent salary of $113,000 per year
• Double-time overtime at $108.60/hour for hours worked beyond 40
• Monday to Thursday: 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Friday: 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
• 4 weeks' vacation from the outset, increasing to 5 weeks with service
• 6 paid sick days annually
• RRSP program: Employee contributes 3%, employer contributes 5%
• Profit-sharing program, with recent annual payouts around $4,000–$5,000, although amounts are not guaranteed
