QA Lead

The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United and AtkinsRéalis located in Kincardine, Ontario. Shoreline Power Group is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which replaces the main components of 6 reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064.

The QA Lead reports to the Project Quality Manager (PQM) and is responsible for the management of all quality functions and duties as related to the FCFR construction activities performed under the JV QA Program. The QA Lead will have authority to implement and maintain a Project Quality Management Plan (PQMP) and is responsible for identifying aspects affecting quality and reporting them to the Project Quality Manager.

• Identify and record quality problems related to the effective implementation of the PQMP;
• Initiate, recommend, monitor, trend, and report implementation of actions required to address quality related issues;
• Verify and confirm the implementation and effectiveness of solutions;
• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of a nonconforming item or service until a disposition has been obtained;
• Fiscal responsibility as required by the consortium agreement.

Your role within the team:

• Support Project site team on all matters pertaining to quality.
• Report conditions affecting quality to the Project Quality Manager.
• Manage the Quality Team reporting into him/her.
• Assist with planning, establishing, documenting, and maintaining the PQMP.
• Direct the performance of internal and external quality audits including audits and assessments conducted on suppliers.
• Assist with the indoctrination and training of project management and staff as defined in the Project Execution Plan and PQMP.
• Maintain qualification records of QA & QC personnel.
• Participate in the selection and assignment of Project Quality Personnel.
• Assign personnel to perform inspections.
• Review and accept customer free issue items and supporting documentation.
• Assist Project Management on matters related to Project Quality Objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate:

• 5 years of on-site inspection, examination, testing & Supervisory experience.
• Any inspection related certification preferably in the Nuclear / Quality industry.
• Experience and knowledge with Nuclear Codes & Standards, and an understanding of Nuclear Safety Culture.
• Experience with supervising a Nuclear Quality Team, interfacing with Project Team and customer representatives.
• Experience with working in a nuclear facility and interfacing with the facility owner.
• ASME Section III and CSA N285 knowledge and understanding.
• Experience with replacement Fuel Channel components and Feeder Pipe would be an asset.
• Various work locations in both field and office.
• Travel as necessary.

• Due to the nature of work conducted by Shoreline, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
• Our background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks. Those with a valid Bruce Power security clearance are strongly preferred.
