Job description

One Floral Group is a wholesale flower producer that provides tailored floral solutions to retail customers throughout North America and is one of the fastest growing producers of floral products. Our business has over four million square feet of growing and production space in more than six facilities in three different climate zones. We have the ability to grow and build a variety of products, including potted plants and planters, outdoor lawn and garden plants, and vegetable propagation in the best conditions.

Reporting to the CEO, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for the company’s end-to-end sourcing of products and services essential for the whole company’s operations, and execute a global sourcing strategy that effectively mitigates risk and consistently exceeds quality and productivity objectives. Drive continuous improvement of procurement processes throughout the business and transfer expertise to business leaders in planning and implementing supply chain strategies to achieve business goals and objectives.

Education and Skills Required
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business
  2. 5 years+ experience combined in procurement and operation management with a full understanding of Total Cost of Ownership from the strategic perspective in the agriculture field
  3. Strong organizational and analytical skills in addition to advanced project leadership and management skills
  4. Highly honed negotiation skills developed through significant corporate sourcing environment experience
  5. Excellent quantitative, analytical and project management skills
  6. Proven leadership skills – ability to motivate others to quickly achieve results in a matrixed environment
  7. Action oriented and takes ownership of tasks and responsibilities and follows through to successful completion
  8. Ability to work under pressure, intellectually curious and strong work ethic
  9. Strategic mindset with excellent executive presence and organizational savvy
  10. Possess a high-level of integrity and ethics
  11. Works together with colleagues inside and outside of the department and organization
Primary Responsibilities
  1. Lead the standardization processes and normalization based on Lean six-sigma principles for NPI, protocols for qualification trials, experiment design related, new supplier’s qualification based on processes capability analysis to reduce TCO (Total cost of ownership).
  2. Take overall responsibility for the sourcing strategy for the direct and indirect material related with sales forecast and operations in coordination with business stakeholders to meet current and future product requirements.
  3. Responsible for negotiations for best possible cost service guarantee and develop “win-win” strategies that achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers.
  4. Execute a global sourcing strategy that effectively mitigates risk and consistently exceeds on quality, delivery, and cost objectives (Lowest TCO).
  5. Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and utilize emerging opportunities.
  6. Work along with sales/Marketing and operations teams on NPI (new product introduction) development and implementation, design Optimization, and guarantee supply reliability to drive competitiveness.
  7. Monitor new product development, the existing portfolio and market trends to determine required long-term supply based on capacities and demand to take proactive action to fulfill the Key Objectives strategic (KOS).
  8. Build out the costing models and track where product stands at every step in the product development process, as well as production cycle, from overseas/domestic shipping to our fulfillment centres.
  9. Manage the overall project timeline, lead weekly cross-functional team meetings, identify risks that may affect the timeline and lead efforts to mitigate risks.
  10. Create an Import and Export strategy to be an agile organization and improve lead-time for incoming raw materials and product to be delivered to our customers.
  11. Travel to domestic and overseas suppliers to monitor production and review new product roadmaps.
  12. Provide regular data analytics that measure material cost performance and guide business strategy.
  13. Manage and mentor staff to encourage them to develop high-performance habits and ensure professional and personal growth.
  14. Work along with the team to continuously improve productivity and efficiency of processes throughout the operational organization.

Working Conditions
  1. Work is performed in Greenhouse and Office settings.
  2. Various physical efforts are required.
  3. Hours of work (shift as scheduled); full workweek with overtime when needed including weekends and holidays.
  4. Ability to travel to visit facilities.
