In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority, patient safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining stock control systems for departmental supplies and equipment, including requisitioning, inventory audits, and managing vendor orders.
What You’ll Do
- Control inventory levels by reviewing reports and analyzing stock usage to ensure appropriate stock levels. Establish and revise re-order points to optimize supply utilization.
- Conduct physical inventory checks, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues or escalate as needed.
- Manage standing orders and place orders with suppliers, including preparing purchase requisitions and contacting vendors.
- Receive, store, and dispose of outdated stock according to departmental procedures.
- Follow up on incomplete or damaged orders, coordinate replacements, and communicate with relevant staff.
- Order loaner equipment and supplies for emergent procedures as directed.
- Assist Care Leaders in obtaining emergent supplies for urgent procedures.
- Rotate stock and reprocess outdated supplies.
- Maintain catalogues and computerized records related to supplies and equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Grade 12 and three years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, anti-racism, Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility, and systemic impacts of colonialism and racism on health disparities.
- Understanding of relevant legislative obligations and commitments, including TRC Calls to Action, UNDRIP, and BC legislation.
Core Competencies- Understanding of Indigenous-specific and systemic racism, with initiatives to promote a safe, inclusive environment.
- Awareness of the social and historical contexts affecting Indigenous Peoples and health equity.
Skills & Knowledge- Typing speed of 45 w.p.m.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform duties.
- Commitment to learning about Indigenous issues, anti-racism, and systemic change, and sharing knowledge to foster a supportive workplace.
