Job summary

Ax-Pharmaceutical-Corp in Vaughan, Ontario is seeking a Purchaser to manage procurement of APIs, raw materials, intermediates, excipients, and packaging for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The role collaborates with Supply Chain, QA/QC, Production, Regulatory Affairs, Finance and R&D to source from approved suppliers, ensure quality, on-time delivery, and competitive costs.

Strong supplier management, attention to detail and GMP understanding are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain, preferably in the pharmaceutical/API industry.
  • Knowledge of APIs, pharmaceutical raw materials, intermediates, or excipients is an advantage.
  • Understanding of GMP and pharmaceutical quality requirements (Required).
  • Strong supplier communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organization and follow-up skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with purchasing and quality documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple suppliers, purchase orders, and deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Obtained valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate risk, assess, prepare forecasts, scenarios, and other factors concerning the supply market, and write reports and recommendations.
  • Identify high-impact cost reduction opportunities.
  • Leverage the organization's buying power to optimize costs, access new suppliers, reduce lead times, and guarantee supply.
  • Consult with vendors or manufacturers and review quotations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential buyers and suppliers to the organization.
  • Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts or recommend contract awards.
  • Establish logistics of delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact clients and suppliers to resolve problems.
  • Respond to customer service inquiries and clarify requirements and provide information as needed.

Position Summary:
  • The Purchaser is responsible for managing the procurement of APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients), raw materials, intermediates, excipients, packaging materials, laboratory supplies, and other products required for pharmaceutical manufacturing and business operations.
  • The Purchaser works closely with suppliers and internal departments, including Supply Chain, Planning, QA, QC, Production, Warehouse, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, and R&D, to ensure materials are sourced from approved suppliers, meet established requirements, and are delivered on time and at competitive costs.
  • The role requires strong attention to detail, supplier management skills, purchasing knowledge, and an understanding of pharmaceutical quality and compliance requirements.
Job Details:
  • Education Level: bachelor’s degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce or economics etc.
  • Languages: English
  • Experience Request: Purchasing Experience as a purchasing clerk, or 1 year or more experience in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, are assets.
  • Working Schedule: 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Salary Offered: $37.00/hour
