Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) is offering a Government Relations Student internship in Calgary, AB. The role partners with teams across the organization to advance public policy initiatives while gaining experience on regulatory and legislative issues.

As part of a 4-month term starting May 2027, you will develop advocacy materials, prepare briefing notes, and support strategic communications. We value teamwork, initiative, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program with a focus on Public Policy, Political Science or related disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Interest in public policy and understanding of current events.
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Professional judgment with the ability to collaborate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Review and research public policy, regulatory and legislative issues which may impact Canadian Natural’s operations.
  • Help identify and evaluate advocacy and engagement opportunities that fit within Canadian Natural’s government relations strategy.
  • Work with the internal regulatory team to identify and highlight policy and regulatory initiatives which may impact Canadian Natural.
  • Develop materials to assist with advocacy and engagement.
  • Update and maintain the Government Relations files.
  • Research and prepare memos and other briefing notes detailing policy or other government regulation or legislation.
  • Support the team with preparing advocacy materials, including PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, and word documents, and providing vacation coverage.
