Job summary

WestJet Group is seeking an Advisor, Public and Media Relations to serve as a proactive storyteller and strategic communications partner. You will shape WestJet’s vision, culture and brand through earned media and modern channels.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders to develop narratives, support communications strategies and build trusted relationships with media contacts in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related discipline.
• 4–5 years of experience in public relations, media relations or corporate communications.
• Experience developing and executing PR strategies with earned media coverage.
• Strong writing and editing skills; translate complex strategies into clear communications.
• Experience building trusted relationships with journalists and internal stakeholders.
• Advisory and collaboration skills; work under pressure.
• Familiar with media intelligence tools and interpreting metrics.

Responsibilities

• Proactive public and media relations: develop and execute PR strategies that turn milestones into earned media.
• Identify authentic stories and develop messages and pitches that connect with audiences.
• Partner with leaders to support public communications and draft remarks and briefs.
• Monitor media coverage and produce insights linking activity to brand value.
• Support rapid response messaging and collaborate across the business to protect reputation.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align messaging and deliver creative storytelling.
