Job summary

Lifemark Seniors Wellness in Orillia, ON is seeking a Casual Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team. You will support the supervising physiotherapist with treatment plans for residents in our Long-Term Care communities and help deliver safe, beneficial exercises.

The role requires a PTA/OTA diploma or degree in Kinesiology, LTC experience is an asset, and you must have a current Vulnerable Sector check and TB clearance.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background.
• Previous LTC experience is an asset.
• A current Vulnerable Sector screening within 6 months.
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist with treatment plans for residents in residential care communities.
• Perform treatments as prescribed by the supervising physiotherapist (e.g., gait training, balance, transfer training, ROM, strengthening, modalities).
• Deliver dynamic, safe therapeutic exercise classes for groups of residents.
• Set up equipment and clean up after treatments.
• Ensure resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy.
• Record daily treatments using the web-based system and communicate changes to the physiotherapist.

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is looking for a Casual Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team!

Location: Orillia, ON

Status: Casual Part-Time

Schedule: 22.5 hours/week

In this role you will:

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
• Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises,
  transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
• Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
• Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system

Qualifications:

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
• Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
