Detailed Overview

Within a client and family-centered care model, and in accordance with professional standards, policies, and the organization’s values, this position works under the supervision of a Psychologist. It involves conducting standardized neuropsychological/psychometric tests to assess cognitive functioning, education level, learning difficulties, personality, quality of life, and vocational interests. The role includes providing reports on test results and client performance to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Responsibilities
  1. Picks up clients with possible psychiatric or neurological disorders from the ward or outpatient department and escorts them to the testing room for assessment.
  2. Administers standardized neuropsychological/psychometric tests according to established guidelines, assessing various aspects of cognitive functioning, personality, mood, quality of life, and vocational interests.
  3. Provides written and/or verbal reports to the psychologist regarding client behavior and performance during testing to aid diagnosis and treatment, ensuring client confidentiality.
  4. Demonstrates testing procedures to interns, observes their performance, and offers corrective feedback as needed.
  5. Participates in quality control by monitoring test standards, ensuring procedures are followed, and maintaining equipment.
  6. Records time spent on testing, report writing, and supervision duties for monthly reporting.
  7. Ensures proper documentation, maintains client files securely, and enters test results into a computerized database.
  8. Adheres to health and safety protocols, reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
  9. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and at least two years of neuropsychological/psychometric testing experience with diverse clinical populations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of psychological assessment and treatment methods.
  • Understanding of therapeutic, diagnostic, and consultation techniques.
  • Familiarity with adult education principles and tools.
  • Knowledge of health care disciplines and their roles.
  • Understanding of research methods and evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to provide supervision and effective consultation.
  • Adaptability to new situations and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with related equipment, word processing, and database software.
  • Broad knowledge of professional standards for psychologists.
