Provincial Preschool Autism Services (PPAS) is a partnership providing family-centered services to preschoolers suspected of or diagnosed with autism across Nova Scotia, including diagnostic assessments, interventions, and supports tailored to individual needs.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of PPAS, the clinical psychologist will conduct diagnostic assessments for children suspected of autism, supporting access and quality of assessment services province-wide. The role involves collaboration within a provincial team, supporting diagnostics, interventions, caregiver education, and interprofessional collaboration. Travel is expected to ensure equitable access.
Hours of Work: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, 75 hours bi-weekly.
Your Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (PhD/PsyD).
- At least one year of full-time predoctoral residency in relevant areas.
- 3-5 years of doctoral training including research, practicum, and residency.
- Registration or eligibility with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP).
- Completion of supervised post-doctoral training, including assessment of core competencies.
- Experience with autism assessment tools, especially ADOS-2.
- Knowledge of psychological diagnosis, assessment, intervention, and research methods.
- Skills in rapport building, report writing, formulation, and treatment planning.
- Ability to supervise and mentor.
- Fluency in additional languages is an asset.
