Job summary

Nurse Next Door is seeking dedicated caregivers in Oakville, ON to provide compassionate, one-on-one care to seniors in their homes. You’ll work flexible shifts and build meaningful relationships while supporting daily living needs.

The role emphasizes safety, dignity, and person-centered care. Requirements include enrollment in or completion of a recognized caregiver program, a current vulnerable sector check, TB test, and two references.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or completed a recognised caregiver education program.
• Ability to provide companionship and personal care within scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and assist with light housekeeping.
• Provide companionship and personal care.
• Follow care plan as designed by the Care Designer.
• Assist with ADLs within scope of practice.
• Support safe transfers and prescribed exercises.
• Ensure client safety and proper use of equipment.
• Document accurately and thoroughly.
• Experience with dementia and responsive behaviours is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and assist with light housekeeping
• Provide companionship and personal care
• Follow and execute the client’s care plan as designed by the Care Designer
• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) within scope of practice
• Support safe transfers, ambulation, and prescribed exercises
• Ensure client safety and proper use of equipment
• Work within your training, experience, and scope of practice
• Complete accurate and thorough documentation
• Experience supporting clients with dementia and responsive behaviors is an asset

Position Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or completed a recognized caregiver education program
• Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (issued within the last year)
• Negative TB skin test or chest X-ray (within the past 2 years)
• Two professional references
