Job summary

Nurse Next Door in Oakville, Ontario is seeking compassionate nursing students who have completed the first year to gain hands-on home-care experience. The Caregiver will provide personalized support to seniors, helping them maintain independence and improve their quality of life through companionship, personal care, and daily assistance.

As a Caregiver, you will assist with ADLs, mobility, meals, and light housekeeping, following each client’s care plan and ensuring safety and dignity.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a nursing program or has completed the first year of nursing education.
• Demonstrates passion for working with seniors and providing compassionate care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while following care guidelines.
• Experience with dementia care or responsive behaviors is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate one-on-one care to clients in their homes.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting.
• Support clients with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and light exercises.
• Prepare meals and assist with light housekeeping tasks.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ well-being.
• Follow and implement individualized care plans provided by the Care Designer.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
• Ensure client safety and use care equipment appropriately.
• Work within the limits of training, knowledge, and professional scope of practice.

Additional Requirements

• Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (issued within the last year).
• Negative TB skin test or chest X-ray (within the last two years).
• Two professional references.
