Job summary

CoolIT, An Ecolab Company, based in Calgary, AB, is seeking a Prototyping Specialist to work on prototypes for next-generation liquid cooling products. You will review drawings, procure materials, and machine parts using CNC mills, lathes, waterjets, and 3D printers in a safety-conscious environment.

The role offers hands-on problem solving, involvement in fast-paced projects, and opportunities to contribute to scalable cooling solutions.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Machinist or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of work experience with prototypes or R&D projects; experience with prototypes.
• Knowledge of HAAS and Mazak CNC mills/lathe.
• Knowledge or experience with 3D printing.
• Experience with GibbsCAM is an asset.
• Able to work with tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings to determine equipment, material and tools.
• Request procurement of necessary materials and tools.
• Manufacture parts using appropriate equipment and methods.
• Program CNC mill if applicable and machine parts.
• Operate other equipment (3D printers, manual lathe/mill, waterjet).
• Check parts for conformance to drawings and specs.
• Communicate progress and risks to stakeholders.
• Maintain safe work practices and preventive maintenance.
• Keep knowledge up-to-date with educational materials.

CoolIT, An Ecolab Company, the leading Direct Liquid Cooling technology provider for data centers, supercomputers, and desktop computers i s hiring a full time Prototyping Specialist to work on the prototypes of our next generation liquid cooling products. Responsibilities included but are not limited to all kinds of machining (CNC and manual mill, manual lathe, water jet and 3D printers, etc) while maintaining company safety and quality expectations.

Reporting to the Prototyping Team Lead, this is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is a hands-on problem solver, loves challenging projects that can require multiple equipment to complete and wants to contribute to the future of scalable computer cooling solutions.

What You Will Do:

• Review engineering drawings to determine what equipment, material and tools are needed to complete the job.
• If there are any errors or additional clarification is required,- contact person who requested the part
• Request procurement of the necessary materials and tools if needed.
• Manufacture parts using the most appropriate equipment and methods.
• If project should be completed on the CNC mill: create a program, make sure it doesn't have errors and machine the parts.
• If project should be completed on any other equipment (3D Printers, manual lathe or mill, waterjet etc) operate equipment as needed.
• Check parts to make sure they are made as per engineering drawings and specifications.
• Contact person who requested the part that it is ready for pick up.
• Communicate to project stakeholders on all stages if anything poses a risk to project scope or timeline.
• Maintain safe work practices by adhering to company safety policies.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Strong desire to work with custom projects in a fast-paced technology company.

Basic Qualifications:

• Journeymen Machinist or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years of work experience with prototypes or R&D projects;
• knowledge of HAAS and Mazak CNC mills/lathe;
• knowledge or experience with 3D printing.
• experience with GibbsCAM is an asset.
• Able to work with tight tolerances.
• A self-motivated individual with a thirst for knowledge.
• Ability to prioritize based on the workload and project priorities.
• Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
