Job summary

CoolIT, An Ecolab Company, based in Calgary, is seeking a full-time Test Technologist to lead testing and qualification of Cooling Distribution Units and system components. You will develop strategies, run verification plans, and integrate CoolIT products with customer equipment.

You'll analyze data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams while supporting prototype builds and test-jig development.

Qualifications

• BSc./Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or relevant field.
• Strong knowledge of materials science, thermodynamics, fluid systems, and electro-mechanical components.
• Hands-on instrumentation and data analysis experience.
• Proficiency with bench test tools and embedded systems is an asset.
• Programming experience in Python and/or C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Work with test engineers and technicians on validation of CDU systems.
• Execute comprehensive test strategies to meet internal and customer standards.
• Drive qualification of components across multiple coolants and systems.
• Perform HALT, thermal cycling, pressure, flow, and vibration tests.

CoolIT, An Ecolab Company is the leading Direct Liquid Cooling technology provider for data centers, supercomputers, and desktop computersis seeking a full-time Test Technologist to support the testing and qualification of Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU) systems.

In this role, you will develop and execute comprehensive verification and validation strategies, including test plans, procedures, and protocols, ensuring alignment with internal quality standards and customer requirements. You will perform engineering design and product risk assessments, support prototype builds, develop test jigs, and integrate CoolIT products into customer equipment. Additionally, you will analyze test data rigorously, prepare technical reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams

What You Will Do:

• Work with the team of test engineers, test specialists and technicians responsible for validation and qualification of Liquid Cooling distribution units and system components.
• Execute comprehensive test strategies and qualification plans to meet internal requirements and customer defined standards.
• Drive qualification of Pump, heat exchanger, PRV’s, electrical components and fluid distribution components across multiple coolants, covering thermal performance, fluid dynamics, reliability, and mechanical integrity.
• Execute stress, reliability, and durability test campaigns including HALT, thermal cycling, temperature stress, pressure, flow, vibration, mechanical load, and leak testing based on risk and field-use conditions.
• Review designs, materials, and specifications to identify technical risks, define mitigation strategies, and recommend design improvements to prevent field failures.
• Perform and assist the test planning and support risk mitigation.
• Detect design and manufacturing defects through structured testing and data analysis; perform root cause analysis and support corrective actions.
• Verify mechanical integrity, sealing performance, and thermal performance for liquid cooling products under realistic operating and stress conditions.
• Collaborate closely with design, reliability, manufacturing, and supplier teams to drive design-for-test and design-for-reliability throughout the product lifecycle.
• Present technical findings and qualification results to internal leadership and external customers; participate in technical reviews and project meetings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSc./Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or relevant field.
• Strong knowledge of materials science, thermodynamics, fluid systems, and electro-mechanical components.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in statistics and data science or data analysis.
• Hands-on experience with instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow sensors), DAQs, and actuators.
• Proficiency with bench test tools (oscilloscope, power analyzer, logic analyzer, multimeter, etc.).
• Experience with embedded systems (PLCs, Raspberry Pi, microcontrollers) is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to perform design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with control algorithms and PID tuning.
• Programming experience (Python and/or C/C++).
• Experience in mechanical hardware design in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD programs is an asset.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ISO, and reliability test standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with data center liquid cooling systems.
• Familiarity with Liquid cooling infrastructure.
• Background in Electrical engineering
