Volatus Aerospace is seeking a Proposal Writer to own the development and submission of funding applications, government challenge proposals, and partner-facing bids. You will work with technical and program stakeholders to translate program information into clear, compelling, and compliant proposal content.

The role requires 3+ years in proposal writing, strong writing and editing skills, and the ability to coordinate input from multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain a library of reusable proposal content and boilerplate material.
• Coordinate review cycles with stakeholders ahead of submissions.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Proposal Writer to own the development and submission of funding applications, government challenge proposals, and partner-facing bids, working closely with technical and program stakeholders to translate program information into clear, compelling, and compliant proposal content.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proposal Writer own's end-to-end development of proposal and funding submission documents, from requirements review through final submission
• Interpret funding program and government challenge requirements (e.g., IRAP, ISC challenges, or similar) and build compliant submission structures and content plans
• Coordinate with the Solution Architect, program leads, and subject-matter engineers to gather accurate technical content, then translate it into clear, well-organized proposal narrative
• Track submission deadlines, requirements checklists, and compliance matrices to ensure complete, on-time submissions
• Write, edit, and format proposal sections, ensuring consistency in tone, structure, and messaging across documents
• Maintain a library of reusable proposal content, past submissions, and boilerplate material to improve efficiency on future bids
• Coordinate review cycles with technical, program, and leadership stakeholders ahead of submission deadlines
• Support post-submission activities, including responding to funding-body or partner follow-up questions
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned by the Company from time to time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business, Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in proposal writing, technical writing, or grant/funding application writing, ideally in aerospace, defence, or a technical industry
• Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear prose
• Experience managing multiple submission deadlines and coordinating input from multiple stakeholders
• Familiarity with compliance-driven submission formats (requirements matrices, structured proposal sections)
• Must be a Canadian citizen and eligible for security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Canadian government funding programs (e.g., IRAP, ISC challenges, or similar) or defence procurement proposals
• Experience working directly with engineers or technical subject-matter experts to develop proposal content
• Familiarity with aerospace, defence, or uncrewed systems terminology and concept

ELIIBILITY

Due to a mandatory requirement of the applicable government contract, candidates must be Canadian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain the required Government of Canada security clearance.

HOURS OF WORK AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Proposal writer position is an onsite role, and the Employee is required to perform their duties primarily at the Company’s designated workplace, as directed by the Company.
• The standard work schedule consists of forty (40) hours per week, typically performed Monday to Friday, subject to operational requirements.
• From time to time, the Employee may be required to maintain reasonable flexibility in working hours to support operational needs, time-sensitive activities, or business priorities.
