Job summary

Primaris REIT is seeking a dedicated Property Accountant to join the Halifax Shopping Centre team in Halifax, ON. You will provide accurate accounting for a retail real estate portfolio and ensure timely reporting and budgeting.

Key responsibilities include monthly closes, variance analysis, GST & QST returns, audit packages, financial statements, CAM recoveries, operating and capital budgets, and property acquisitions support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• Earned or enrolled in a program to achieve a professional accounting designation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• ERP system experience (Yardi preferred).
• Bilingualism (French/English).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Produce accurate work with attention to detail and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Monthly reporting and month-end closes with variance analysis.
• Prepare quarter-end audit packages and liaise with auditors.
• Draft annual financial statements and cost statements.
• Prepare annual tenant operating cost, CAM recoveries and realty tax billings.
• Prepare operating and capital budgets.
• Assist with integration of new property acquisitions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Vacancy Status: New Role

As the Property Accountant, you will provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients and provide efficient and accurate accounting of a retail real estate portfolio owned by Primaris. Your communication skills and positive attitude will contribute to the success of our team. Your main organizational task will be to provide timely and accurate reporting and budgeting by:

• Monthly reporting, including month-end closes, actual to budget variance analysis, GST & QST returns, bank reconciliations, etc.
• Prepare quarter-end audit packages and liaise with auditors
• Draft annual financial statements and cost statements
• Prepare annual tenant operating cost, CAM recoveries and realty tax billings
• Prepare operating and capital budgets
• Assist with the integration of new property acquisitions as required
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Compensation:

Expected Salary Range: CAD $75,000 – $85,000
