Job Description

This six (6) month contract position works closely with other accounting team members to provide timely, accurate management reporting and analytical support to Property Management, Asset Management, and Corporate Accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly journal entries accurately and timely.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and clear cheques.
  • Review monthly rent roll reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Conduct monthly GST reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly reporting packages for the accounting and construction groups.
  • Support during interim and year-end audits.
  • Input data and assist in preparing the annual budget.
  • Handle year-end adjustments and pre-billings, ensuring all necessary information is available for timely completion.
  • Review and code invoices via the automated invoicing system (Yardi), ensuring charges are within contract amounts.
  • Assist various departments with accounting information and guidance as needed.
  • Participate in other projects as required.
Qualifications
Service / Personal Skills

Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team within a deadline-driven environment. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with strong initiative, analytical, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.

Experience
  • One year of experience in a property accounting environment is preferred but not required.
  • Advanced MS Excel, Outlook, and Word skills are required.
  • Solid working knowledge of accounting software is preferred (Yardi Voyager).
Education/Designations/Licenses
  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in a related field.
  • Working towards a professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA) is preferred but not required.
