SUMMARY

The Project Support Specialist (Telecom/Audio Visual/Security Technology) plans and oversees the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed within scope, budget, and requirements.

At this position level:

  • Projects are typically of low complexity, risk, and exposure.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

For the assigned projects:

  • Plans and manages the end-to-end delivery of projects, which are generally of low complexity and risk.
  • Defines project scope, deliverables, and requirements in collaboration with concerned parties.
  • Develops and implements detailed project plans.
  • Determines resource needs, budgets, estimates, and timelines.
  • Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Monitors project progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Supervises project team activities and monitors task completion.
  • Communicates project status to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and in compliance with all regulatory, environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Conducts site tours and reports observations.

Client Relationship Management

  • Builds and maintains effective client relationships.
  • Resolves issues, manages expectations, and ensures client satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Urgent Project Requirements

  • Initiates projects immediately, working with the operations team to gather requirements.
  • Conducts risk assessments, prepares cost estimates, and holds kickoff meetings with all stakeholders.
  • Works independently to address challenges and keep projects on track.
  • Maintains regular communication with clients and internal teams.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Community college diploma in architectural, construction, or engineering technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of project management experience or 5-7 years of project coordination in construction, with relevant technical training.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and according to specifications, complying with all standards.
  • Experience in budget management, risk mitigation, and project planning.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing client relationships and vendor performance.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • High sense of urgency, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create project schedules and estimates independently.
  • Multitasking skills across multiple projects.
  • Understanding of construction industry standards, including RCMP guidelines.
  • Ability to develop business cases and secure funding.
  • Goal-oriented with creative problem-solving skills.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

Assets include:

  • Project Management Institute Accreditation (in progress)
  • LEED certification (in progress)
  • Construction Administration Certificate
  • Secret Security Clearance (to be obtained)
