Job description

Olameter Inc. has an immediate opening for a Project Supervisor at our Nanaimo, BC location. This position supports our Gas Meter Survey project with FortisBC, involving brief inspections of gas meters. The project is estimated to be completed by 4/2021.

Position Overview

This is a working supervisor position. In addition to supervising the daily work of a team of Gas Meter Survey Technicians, the Supervisor will also conduct gas meter surveys. The Supervisor provides training to staff and is the subject matter expert on gas meter inspection and surveying. The role involves ensuring work quality and efficiency, resolving customer and employee issues, and assisting the Project Manager in coordinating all project phases, including testing and training. The Supervisor participates in hiring, discipline, and employee termination processes.

Compensation

$300.00 per week, paid at $0.97 per meter, averaging $23-24/hr, with potential for higher earnings based on productivity. Mileage reimbursement is $0.45 per kilometer. Some overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure route schedules are completed as planned.
• Recommend adjustments to improve efficiency and update data in IFS.
• Provide guidance and training to field staff, interpret and implement company policies, and act as a point of contact for field issues.
• Perform field inspections and ensure safety standards are followed.
• Resolve customer issues and escalate when necessary.
• Provide daily reports and staff performance input to the Project Manager.
• Assist in hiring, discipline, and termination; perform survey routes.
• Perform other duties as required.

Preferred Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent; supervisory experience required.
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to teach and train others; field or utility experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry on handheld devices.
• Ability to read maps and locate addresses.
• Professional interaction with customers.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
