Job summary

Prattwhitney is seeking a Project Scheduler in Calgary, Alberta, responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules. Collaborating with various teams, you will ensure programs are delivered on scope, time, and within budget.

Job description

Role Summary

Project Scheduler – responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules to ensure successful delivery of programs on scope, on time, and within budget. Collaborates closely with project management, engineers and cross‑functional teams to track progress, mitigate risks, and provide data‑driven insights.

Location: Calgary, Alberta or Ottawa, Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to align with program objectives, milestones and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project management, engineers and cross‑functional teams to define project tasks, timelines, dependencies and resource requirements.
  • Monitor schedule performance and progress, identifying risks, delays and opportunities for schedule optimization.
  • Support risk management activities by proactively identifying potential issues, forecasting delays and recommending corrective actions or schedule adjustments.
  • Conduct risk assessments, including preparation and execution of Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate schedule reliability.
  • Provide regular updates to project management and stakeholders on schedule status, changes and any potential issues.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and accurate updates to schedules and related documentation.
  • Prepare and distribute progress reports, dashboards and other relevant metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Assist with various ad‑hoc project management tasks to ensure program success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Engineering, Project Management or a related field (or equivalent training and experience).
  • 3 years of experience in program or project scheduling, preferably within an aerospace, defense or engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling principles, including Critical Path Method (CPM), Earned Value Management (EVM) and dependency management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data visualization tools and other relevant software.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across diverse teams and organizational levels.
  • Certification in scheduling or project management such as PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI‑SP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ForProject and Barbecana Full Monte is a plus.
  • Knowledge of government contracting and defense industry standards is an asset.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
Additional Information

The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods. This position is eligible for consideration of a hybrid work arrangement with set onsite days.
