Job summary

WSP in Canada is seeking a Resource Specialist for the Rail and Transit team, based in Thornhill or Toronto, ON, to coordinate staffing plans, onboarding, and mobilization, aligning engineering capabilities with project needs. Working with discipline leads and project managers, you will help ensure processes, reporting, and informed workforce decisions support major projects.

You will apply your resource management knowledge to develop utilization tracking, capability matrices, and proposals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, or related field, or equivalent.
  • Experience in resource management, project coordination, staffing, or workforce planning within a project-delivery environment.
  • Working knowledge of engineering roles, project delivery frameworks, staffing processes, and internal approval workflows.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for utilization tracking, capability matrices, proposals, CVs, and presentations.
  • Experience using resource management or project planning tools is an asset.
  • Ability to organize competing priorities, identify resource conflicts, document decisions, and communicate practical solutions to project stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain resource management plans that align available capabilities with major project timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with discipline leads to validate staffing requirements, availability, and engineering skill needs across rail and transit projects.
  • Coordinate resource onboarding and mobilization while supporting timely internal approvals and project readiness.
  • Produce utilization tracking, capability matrix updates, and resource reports that give project leaders clear workforce insight.
  • Contribute to proposals, CV formatting, and leadership presentations that position multidisciplinary teams for project success.
  • Strengthen resource management processes by identifying conflicts, escalating skill gaps, and supporting continuous improvement.

Compensation
  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $51,800 - $68,600

  • MB & ON: $47,200 - $65,000

  • NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $46,800 - $62,100
