Project Manager

  • Contract Length: 11 months
  • Work Location: Calgary or Edmonton

Raise is currently hiring a Project Manager on behalf of one of our top clients, a leading financial institution. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Job Overview

The Project Manager within People Places & Spaces (PP&S), will report to the Senior Manager, Project Delivery but take day-to-day instruction and guidance from an assigned Program Manager. This hands-on role is essential in bringing our projects to life by managing all aspects of project execution, from scope and timelines to budgets. Your goal will be to ensure each project delivers exceptional value and aligns with our strategic objectives.

In this role, you will oversee project management efforts from initiation through to close-out, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful outcomes. You will be responsible for maintaining project documentation, updating stakeholders, and measuring project value realization to ensure we meet our objectives and deliver on our promises. Your leadership and proactive approach will be crucial in shaping project success and enhancing the end-user experience.

This position is critical for the seamless delivery of complex projects within PP&S. Your role in project management and effective cross-functional collaboration will drive the successful realization of our strategic initiatives. By optimizing project outcomes and enhancing end-user experiences, you will help align projects with our broader organizational goals, directly impacting efficiency, engagement, and user satisfaction. Slightly different from traditional Project Management, this role will require hands-on effort during project planning and delivery phases to support project outcomes.

PP&S is the real estate and facilities business unit and leads real estate strategy, workplace optimization & experience, spatial design, construction, project management, leasing & subleasing management, facilities management & maintenance, asset management, facility operations, occupational health & safety, and physical security. PP&S oversees 1.5 million square feet of space, and the team is deeply connected to transforming banking through client-facing locations, and leading the way with corporate workplace transformation, both of which bring mandate to life and make it possible for Albertans.

Responsibilities

  • Project Facilitation & Management: Lead and manage our most complex projects from end-to-end, ensuring effective execution and adherence to scope, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • This role will project manage the implementation of mid-sized Integrated Health System for Occupational Health & Safety [OH&S] with our OH&S team (40% of time)
  • Additionally, this role will assist the Program Manager responsible for a larger Technology Ecosystem portfolio of three projects (that includes implementing an Integrated Workplace Management System [IWMS], and Integrated Health System [IHS] for OH&S, and a Physical Access Control & CCTV System [PACS & CCTV]) with PMO requirements for project delivery (60%):
  • Scope & Budget Oversight: Develop, track, and manage project scopes, timelines, and budgets, ensuring deliverables meet financial and time parameters.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain and update project documentation and workbooks, ensuring accuracy and completeness throughout the lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Develop and provide clear and consistent project updates to stakeholders, including status, changes, and key milestones.
  • Cross-Functional Team Engagement: Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure collaborative execution and successful project outcomes.
  • Change Impact Analysis: Conduct change impact analysis from end-user and process perspectives to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption; coordinate and support execution activities to accommodate identified impacts to systems, processes, people and tools.
  • Project Health Reporting: Monitor and report on project health, addressing risks and issues to keep projects aligned with strategic goals.
  • Value Realization: Measure and report on project value, documenting impacts and benefits in relation to organizational objectives.
  • Project Launch & Close-Out: Coordinate project launches and close-outs, ensuring efficient completion and alignment with end-user needs; at times providing hands-on support for launch events.
  • Distinctive Skill Requirements
  • Project Management: Ability to manage complex projects from initiation to completion, with a strong focus on scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Process Adherence: Follow established project management processes, using good judgement to adapt to project-specific requirements where appropriate.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze project data to make informed decisions and recommendations, proactively identifying risks and need for updates to resource, budget or schedule changes.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, providing clear updates and engaging diverse stakeholders, with the ability to tailor messaging to distinct audiences.
  • Change Management: Implement changes, balancing the needs of project objectives, and stakeholder expectations and readiness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively with various teams to ensure integrated project execution.
  • Documentation Excellence: Maintain comprehensive, accurate project documentation for all stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Work with stakeholders to identify and assess risks associated with a project, and work to develop and uphold a risk response plan that appropriately meets the risk appetite of the organization.
  • Multitasking and Prioritization: Ability to manage multiple complex projects, using good judgement to determine optimal prioritization of activities, navigating project teams through periods of uncertainty.
  • Project delivery document artifact creation and updates: JIRA project set-up, tracking and on-going updates
  • Governance and Stakeholder status reporting as needed: Meeting notes, action items and issues documentation

Qualifications

  • 3 – 5+ years of hands-on project management experience, with proven ability to manage complex projects crossing multiple departments, including management of budget.
  • University degree in business, project management, or a related field is required.
  • PMP certification is a definite asset.
  • Experience implementing technology projects. This role will project manage the implementation of mid-sized Integrated Health System for Occupational Health & Safety [OH&S] with our OH&S team (40% of time)
  • Strong expertise in project facilitation, documentation management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira, or similar is preferred.
  • Proficiency with G-Suite or similar tools and the ability to quickly learn new software and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams, navigate conflict and manage complex projects with a focus on achieving strategic objectives and value realization.
