Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; P.Eng registered or eligible.
• PMI PMP certification preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive project management experience.
• Strong knowledge of procurement, contracting, and risk management.
• Experience with hydropower plant systems and remote sites.

Assignment Description

WORK SCOPE / POSITION DESCRIPTION

Our Client and its subsidiaries are seeking a Project Manager. The position will focus primarily on projects relating to hydro powerhouse systems at Churchill Falls and Muskrat Falls but may be assigned other project work based on business priorities and as need arises.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead projects from initiation to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget;


• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets, including regular reporting to the Client's leadership;


• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure engineering designs, specifications, and deliverables meet corporate standards and applicable codes.


• Oversee and review tender packages, participate in contract evaluation and award processes, ensuring quality and value for the Client;


• Manage project teams, including internal engineers, contractors, and consultants, to achieve project objectives;


• Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities, verify project progress, and provide support to site teams;


• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks, and maintain the project risk register throughout the project lifecycle;


• Facilitate effective communication across stakeholders, ensuring that approved project changes are reflected in the active budget and schedule;


• Ensure contractor compliance with the Client'’s Contractor Safety Management Plan and corporate and Contractor HSE policies;


• Lead project closeout activities, ensuring smooth transition of completed assets to operations;


• Promote continual improvement through lessons learned, innovative approaches, and sharing best practices with other project teams;


• Submit timesheets and documentation in accordance with Client's project management requirements;

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) association. Equivalent professional engineering (P. Eng) registration can be considered;


• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or other similar Project Management certification is preferred;


• Minimum of 10 years of progressive project management experience;


• Strong knowledge of the procurement and contracting process, contractor management and contract negotiation skills;


• Strong knowledge of risk facilitation, risk management, and risk mitigation on complex projects;


• Strong knowledge in project scope definition, change evaluation and project change management;


• Strong experience in project controls, planning, scheduling, and estimating is considered an asset;


• Experience with hydropower plant systems, including generators, turbines and balance of plant. Direct work experience at Churchill Falls or Muskrat Falls hydropower plants is considered an asset;


• Proven experience managing complex projects in remote locations;


• Strong background in coordinating and managing multidisciplinary engineering project teams (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical) and collaborating with design and construction groups;


• Demonstrated ability to manage projects on operational industrial sites, including contractor supervision and adherence to site-specific safety requirements;


• Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and changing project demands.
