The Project Manager - New Facilities is responsible for leading the full life cycle for the development of new site services facilities. This includes planning, permitting, consultation, procurement, engineering design, construction, and commissioning of new administration, labour, and maintenance facilities.
About the Role
- Provide leadership and represent DP World Canada and GPPMD throughout the full project lifecycle of developing new terminal facilities.
- Instill DP World's Our Principles across projects.
- Coordinate with GPPMD, external stakeholders (port authorities, First Nations, consultants, contractors) to align strategies and project direction.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment, motivating team members to meet project goals.
- Develop and maintain project scope, schedule, and budget, including risk and cost estimates, ensuring reliable delivery aligned with project objectives and resource plans.
- Lead workshops with Terminal Operations, Technology, Safety, and Security teams to ensure alignment on technical and performance requirements.
- Oversee procurement, site investigations, surveys, and environmental or pre-construction activities.
- Manage RFQ and RFP processes, and oversee the selection and coordination of consultants and contractors.
- Approve payment reports from contractors and consultants.
- Lead the project team through all phases of construction, including planning, permitting, procurement, design, construction, and commissioning.
- Manage project implementation, including civil works, equipment, IT, security, and systems integration.
- Coordinate with operational stakeholders to ensure interface management with terminal operations.
- Monitor project progress, report to stakeholders, and implement remedial actions as needed.
- Manage risks and issues, applying mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
- Ensure all work complies with DP World's health, safety, security, and environmental policies, and QA/QC procedures.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and safety protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
- University degree in engineering, construction management, or related field, with at least 8 years of civil or building project experience.
- Experience with large-scale industrial, transit, mining, or port-related maintenance facilities, with project value exceeding specified thresholds.
- PMI PMP certification, P. Eng registration in British Columbia, or similar credentials.
- Proven leadership skills in team development and motivation.
- Ability to foster positive relationships within teams and with stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, capable of working across departments and representing the business externally.
- Strong judgment and analytical skills for effective decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders.
- Ability to build relationships and ensure quality standards and initiatives are achieved.
- Broad understanding of engineering principles, regulations, and safety standards.
- Capacity to develop and maintain a long-term project strategy from inception to delivery.
