Job summary

City of Saskatoon seeks a Project Manager to lead and deliver technology related projects from initiation to closeout under the Project Management Office Lead within Strategic Execution, Business Transformation. The role defines scope, secures resources, coordinates teams and manages schedule, budget, risks, and quality through the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include developing charters, schedules, budgets, KPIs, progress reports, and close-out activities.

Qualifications

  • University degree in computational science, commerce, business administration, project management or related discipline.
  • Seven to Nine years of direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of project initiation, planning, execution and completion.
  • Possession of a Project management certification such as PMI PMP preferred; PfMP asset.

  • Establishes and manages project schedules, timelines, expectations, resources, budgets, project milestones, deliverables, issues, risks, and timely communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Estimates resource requirements and skills required to complete project tasks and negotiates resources from within the applicable business division and Strategy and Transformation Division.
  • Defines project success criteria, and key performance indicators, and reports status and outcomes to stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Identifies and manages project dependencies, critical path and integration points to minimize risk and avoid schedule impacts.
  • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Leads project close-out activities including lessons learned and post-implementation reviews to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Supports the lifecycle of a project including developing business case; initiates, plans and controls project, and prepares forecast of short and long-term projects.
  • Supervises, coaches, mentors, & motivates project team members, encourages positive action and accountability for assigned work, and promotes a collaborative, results focused team environment.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Project Management Office Lead within the Strategic Execution section of Business Transformation, the Project Manager, plans, leads and delivers technology related projects from initiation to closeout. This role clarifies objectives, scope and success measures, secures resources, coordinates the efforts of team members and manages schedule, budget, risks, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements



  • University degree in computational science, commerce, business administration, project management or related discipline.

  • Seven to Nine years of direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of project initiation, planning, execution and completion.

  • Possession of a Project management certification such as Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

  • Possession of Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) would be considered an asset.


Knowledge, Abilities and Skills



  • Considerable knowledge with project management software, such as Microsoft Project or Microsoft Planner or similar.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines.

  • Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and writing, including the ability to prepare and present oral and written reports of a specialized nature.

  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with suppliers, the public and other civic employees.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.


Weekly Hours:36.67


Salary Range:$93,293.52to$109,486.56 CADper annum (2026 rates). Anannual supplement of $13,790.88 on top of the regular annual rate will also apply.
