Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the tactical ICAT implementation roadmap for the next 5 years with the project team.
  • Execute the tactical plan to meet FFH digital goals, objectives, and benefits.
  • Oversee integration of ICAT systems with architectural and construction plans.
  • Oversee installation of cabling, network infrastructure, data centers, and other IT facilities.
  • Identify risks related to construction and ICAT implementation and mitigate them.
  • Consult with equipment vendors to ensure space, operational, and utility requirements are met.
  • Monitor micro-schedules to keep ICAT work on track with construction timelines.
  • Establish project controls, monitoring, tracking, and reporting of internal documents.
  • Perform cross-functional duties as needed and backup the ICAT Director.

VACANCY STATUS: FULL TIME

Position Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to provide the Hospital with a senior project manager that can
coordinate Information, Communication, and Automation Technology (ICAT) planning, design,
construction and integration activities first for the new Fancsy Family Hospital (FFH) campus. This
Project Manager will oversee IT and medical equipment planning and ensure healthcare IT systems
are aligned with the broader construction and operational goals across all redevelopment construction
projects.

Working with the Redevelopment team, other WRH staff and external consultants, this position will
serve a pivotal role coordinating a wide range of activities relating to the planning, specifications,
procurement and redeployment of IT and Security equipment technology for the Redevelopment
Projects. Reporting to the Director, ICAT the Project Manager will act as one of the hospital's
representatives in discussions with a multi-disciplinary team of hospital professionals, department
stakeholders, architects and consultants in the planning and development of ICAT requirements.

To thrive as an ICAT Project Manager, you need strong project management expertise, knowledge of
Information Communications and Automation Technology (ICAT) systems, and a relevant engineering
degree or certification like PMP. Familiarity with project management software (such as MS Project or
Primavera), automation platforms, and control systems is required. Exceptional organizational,
communication, and leadership skills help manage cross-functional teams and complex technical
projects. These skills ensure efficient project delivery, stakeholder satisfaction, and the successful
integration of automation technologies.

The Project Manager may also be called on to provide advice and guidance on issues related to ICAT
redevelopment of projects at the Ouellette and Met Campuses.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Working with senior project leadership, you will be establishing and leading the tactical road map of ICAT implementations for the next 5 years in conjunction with the broader Project team and Shared Service Organization (Transform).
  • Based on the ICAT Strategic Plan & design standards execute the tactical plan to ensure FFH Projects Digital Goals, Objectives, and Benefits are achieved.
  • Oversee the integration of ICAT systems, ensuring alignment with architectural and construction plans.
  • Oversee the installation of the structured cabling, network infrastructure, data centers, and other IT facilities across the campus.
  • Identify potential risks related to construction and ICAT implementation and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Consulting with Equipment vendors to ensure physical space, operational requirements, and utility requirements are carried out in the equipment database accurately.
  • Monitoring micro-schedules, to ensure that all phases in the planning of the ICAT work proceed on time and do not impact the construction timelines.
  • Establish ICAT project controls, monitoring, tracking, maintaining, reporting, of internal documents to identify risks, opportunities and manage project timelines and budget.
  • Performs cross-functional duties as assigned and/or requested; performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
  • Backup the ICAT Director.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct all duties and responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with WRH’s commitment to promote positive customer relations when dealing with patients, families, visitors, volunteers, staff and external agents.
  • Demonstrated well developed business management skills and acumen (strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation and strong analytical skills) coupled with demonstrated organizational skills and experience with large scale projects.
  • Self-directed with demonstrated success and experience in managing and prioritizing complex ICAT/IT projects and working with multiple teams of professional, technical, and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication and presentation skills, clear written and verbal communication with professional, technical, and non-technical staff.
  • Excellent consultation, facilitation, negotiation, problem solving, consensus building/team building and collaboration skills with an exhibited ability to gain consensus and alignment of multiple stakeholders to embrace strategies with small or large, complex projects.
  • Commitment to team building in a complex, multidisciplinary, environment and ability to work with various constituents/teams to build consensus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University degree or College diploma in engineering, biomedical engineering, health information systems, information management, information technology, architecture, or a health care related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the Information Technology field in an acute hospital is mandatory.
  • PMP or Prince 2 certification required with Minimum of 3 years of experience in the leading, planning, specification, selection, and deployment of major ICAT projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with migration of hospital operations and environments to new sites.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including, at a minimum, Word, Excel, MS Access, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to read architectural, mechanical, structural, and electrical drawings is considered an asset.
  • Experience using tools like dRofus, Fieldwire, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge of facility design, construction processes, and familiarity with health care delivery systems.
  • Experience and familiarity with CM, P3, PDB and DBFM method of procurement is essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ontario Building Code, CSA Standards and other applicable standards.
