JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, oversight and coordination of a project and project team to achieve objectives. The Project Manager has the responsibility and accountability for integrating the needs and requirements of the client and the site. The Project Manager will lead the planning, monitoring, and controlling activities, contribute insight and direction from stakeholders, and facilitate participation from cross-functional project team members. The Project Manager is accountable for managing the project schedule, scope, and budget in close coordination with Operations, Sales & Business Development, Commercial Development and Finance, and in alignment with client agreements.

Client Relationship Management (For external projects and/or clients)
• Develop, manage, and maintain a communication plan for external communication with the client, serving as the primary point of contact for client-Emergent technical communication.
• With the project team, triage and coordinate responses to client queries including initiating, reviewing and negotiating new scope agreements.

Budget Management
• Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets and/or revenues, including reforecasting and variance reporting. Track project pass throughs and task completion and prepare billings to generate invoicing.
Schedule Management
• With the project team, create, manage, and maintain the project schedule, and monitor performance against the project schedule. Develop visuals for and conduct moderate scenario planning for proposed changes to the project schedule.
• Develop project timelines with input from all required departments.

Scope Management
• Manage single or multiple complex projects with minimal oversight.
• Create, manage, and maintain the project deliverables, and monitor performance against the approved project scope, milestones, and budget using appropriate tools. Identify, report, and document changes to the project scope that may have an impact to quality, schedule, or cost.
• Develop project plans with input from all required departments.
• Provide knowledge, vision, and expertise on draft contracts documents to assist Sales & Business Development and Commercial Development in securing new clients and contracts.
• Where required, define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Proactively manage changes in project scope and prepare change orders promptly for tasks outside the project scope. Establish performance standards and goals for projects.

Risk Management
• Identify and manage project risks, document mitigations, and run impact analyses. Facilitate risk mitigation with key stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management
• Build and lead cross-functional project teams to implement the project plan to achieve project deliverables, timelines, and budgets. Facilitate project team member participation, collaboration, and shared sense of responsibility for work output.
• Lead project team meetings (internal and external) and contribute to advancement of project objectives. Provide feedback and set the direction for the next milestone or project deliverable.

Project Governance
• Guide project outcomes, progress, and direction by maintaining continuous contact with clients and the project team, by identifying and troubleshooting technical problems with the project team, and by supporting and advocating solutions and decisions presented by the project team.
• Review and evaluate deliverables prepared by the project team, lead communication and delivery to the sponsor/client and provide an escalation path for problems, issues and risks that can't be resolved or mitigated by the project team.
• Serve as liaison between senior management, the client, and the project team. Prepare regular project reporting documents, develop, and deliver engaging, informative, and well-organized presentations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of post-secondary education, preferably in Business or Science related fields.
• Minimum 2 years of project management experience or 1 to 3 years' experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology Industries, or in a Contract Manufacturing related setting.
• Experience in managing Technology Transfer projects is desired
• PMP Certification desirable
• Proficient in common software applications including SAP, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio and Smartsheets
• Solid leadership and interpersonal skills, combined with strong written and presentation skills, and the ability to negotiate and positively influence peers in multiple disciplines are requirements.
• Must be results oriented, flexible, demonstrate a significant level of initiative, and be able to comprehend detailed and complex technical, financial, and contractual issues.
