Job description

Position Details

We are looking for a Project Manager, Mechanical Engineering (Buildings) to join our Victoria office. In this role, you will manage a team of mechanical designers in executing projects whilst ensuring clients expectations are met throughout. You should be an experienced designer with an excellent track record, both technically and in business development. Creative thinking and a proactive attitude, along with strong communication, organizational and report writing skills, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building control systems.
  • Manage the planning, coordination, and completion of multiple projects.
  • Review of system design calculations and equipment selections.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, specifications, and meeting minutes.
  • Team supervision, including assigning work, peer reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Establish and monitor internal budgets and project delivery schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers to ensure they are continually growing.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives for the development of new systems and standards.
  • Comply with AME quality management standards and processes.

Key Skills

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Revit, IESve and HAP would be an asset.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical developments in the field of engineering.
  • Clear and concise communication, both orally and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships with all employees, clients, colleagues, and municipal agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to formulate sound engineering decisions and judgment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • P.Eng. or Professional Technologist designation. You should be registered and in good standing with APEGA or ASET.
  • Minimum 8 years of mechanical (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) experience in design, project management and client relations.
  • Sustainable design certification (LEED, Certified Passive House Designer, etc.) or experience would be an asset.
