Role description:

Join one of the largest architectural firms in the world while working in a boutique-style team on some of the highest-profile projects in Vancouver! We are seeking an experienced Project Manager for our Vancouver living practice, focusing on high-rise residential projects.

You’ll work with a fast-paced, driven team with a proven record in design and technical excellence. The ideal candidate will have experience leading projects end-to-end, with strong production skills (working drawings), which are essential.

You should have hands-on experience with detailed drawings, excellent project management and coordination skills, and strong interpersonal abilities to develop client and consultant relationships. A keen eye for detail, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm for new challenges are vital. The role also involves design development. Project performance, quality, and client satisfaction are key to success!

Role accountabilities:

  • Work independently under the Studio Manager, leading the production team to prepare working drawings for permits, tenders, and construction.
  • Attend project meetings, prepare and distribute minutes as needed.
  • Post-issue for construction, continue work at the construction stage, review shop drawings, answer RFIs, solve site issues, attend site meetings if required, and assist contract administration.
  • Maintain effective technical, project management, client relationship, and commercial skills.
  • Mentor and coach team members, potentially taking on emerging line management responsibilities.
  • Manage project teams, assign tasks to junior staff, and work with stakeholders to clarify project scope and criteria.
  • Contribute to marketing and proposal efforts.
  • Monitor project financials and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain effective client relationships, ensuring clear communication and client satisfaction with project outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree required; Master’s degree considered an asset.
  • Registered with AIBC or working towards professional accreditation.
  • 10+ years of architecture experience.
  • 6+ years in a similar Project Manager role on high-rise residential projects.
  • Deep knowledge of working drawings and building codes, LEED, Vancouver Green Standards.
  • Familiarity with building permits, tenders, and construction requirements.
  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD; skilled in MS Word, Excel, and related software for documentation and scheduling.
  • Ability to manage all phases of a design project from concept to construction on straightforward projects.
