Job summary

Northern Employment Solutions Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Ontario to oversee multiple heavy civil construction projects from planning through execution.

You will ensure on-time delivery, adherence to budget, quality and safety standards, and lead project teams across site and office settings. You will manage budgets, permits, risk, and stakeholder communications with clients, subcontractors, vendors and government agencies, while mentoring coordinators and ensuring compliance and

  • 5+ years of experience in project management in the self-performing Heavy Civil and road building industry.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.

  • G Class Driver’s License & Clean Drivers Abstract.

  • Ability to travel if required.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility with hours of work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.

  • Understand estimated costs; help manage project budgets and ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and to required quality standards.
  • Monitor project performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead project teams and ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Mentor project coordinators and junior-level staff to support development.
  • Assign roles and responsibilities to junior-level staff.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, vendors, government agencies).
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to project plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support company objectives.

Job description

Reporting to the Director, Operations, this role oversees multiple heavy civil construction projects from planning through execution, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality and safety standards. The position leads project teams, manages stakeholders, mitigates risk, and ensures full regulatory and health & safety compliance while supporting team development.

PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE
PROJECT PLANNING & DELIVERY
  • Manage and oversee multiple heavy civil construction projects from start to finish.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Expected Base Salary: $120,000 - $165,000 per year. The actual base salary will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
