UNSW is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of strategic initiatives that enhance student systems and digital capabilities, with a primary focus on the Registrar & Student Services (RaSS) team within the Division of Education and Student Experience (DESE).

In this senior role, you will oversee the end-to-end management of projects, aligning business objectives with technical solutions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the student experience. You will play a key role in translating business needs into actionable plans, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership, and ensuring that project outcomes deliver real value to the University.

Working closely with the Registrar & Director, Student Services team, you will report to the Senior Project Manager, Strategic Technology & Governance Planning, and lead two direct reports. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication of risks and progress, and a clear understanding of digital transformation in a university setting will be essential for success in this role.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

  • Analyse business problems, project opportunities, and align business needs with strategic goals.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across UNSW to understand business needs and document business requirements.
  • Develop financial models to support cost-benefit analysis and identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define project scope and objectives.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and other decision-makers.

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on developing business cases or related documentation.
  • Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Write clear and concise business requirements in the required formats that articulate the needs of Registrar and Student Services and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including those in the Higher Education sector specifically.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
