Job description

Arctic Arrow is a Canadian owned and operated company specializing in powerline transmission, distribution, and underground cable work. We offer exemplary construction and maintenance services in the power utility sector across Canada and operate out of offices located in Abbotsford, Cranbrook, Sparwood, Fort St. John, and Dawson Creek, British Columbia, as well as Alberta.

Position Overview:

The Project Manager is responsible for the planning and delivery of power transmission and distribution projects and managing construction progress in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner, consistent with commercial contracts. Duties include initiation, planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, control, and project close-out. This position is located in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage project scope, schedule, and cost.
  2. Provide strategic leadership for large and complex power transmission and distribution projects.
  3. Plan and control all stages of the Project Management Lifecycle, ensuring understanding of all contract aspects and scope of work.
  4. Develop and review construction plans, monitor progress, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget, taking corrective actions as needed.
  5. Provide regular progress reports to senior management with recommendations for improvements.
  6. Make declarations on behalf of Arctic Arrow for regulated electrical work.
  7. Enforce company policies at all levels within your control.
  8. Supervise and schedule activities of project staff and subcontractors, ensuring effective coordination.
  9. Coordinate site staff and resources with the Construction Manager or General Foreman.
  10. Lead change management processes across multiple projects.
  11. Negotiate with clients on extras and progress payments.
  12. Manage project budgets and implement effective construction methods.
  13. Motivate and develop project staff through leadership, teamwork, training, and personal development.
  14. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and identify new market opportunities.
  15. Ensure effective project execution through all processes.
  16. Develop and manage project plans and reports.
  17. Create accurate project estimates and schedules.
  18. Communicate project status effectively to stakeholders.
  19. Identify and mitigate project risks throughout the lifecycle.
  20. Collaborate with the Manager of Project Delivery to track project schedule and costs.
  21. Recruit and develop additional personnel as needed.
  22. Build relationships with clients and subcontractors through on-site work and networking.
  23. Monitor and control project costs, forecasts, and approvals to prevent overruns.
  24. Define quality requirements and compile QA/QC and final turnover documentation.
  25. Ensure systems and processes are applied to each project.
  26. Prepare and review reports for management and clients.
  27. Promote safety on all project sites under your control.
  28. Manage contracts with clients, inter-company, and subcontractors.
  29. Manage electrical and construction permits as required.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • PMP certification (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in powerline construction (preferred).
