Project Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee technology installation projects from planning through completion. This role is based in Ottawa and will work closely with general contractors, building owners, consultants, internal departments, subcontractors, and field installation teams.
The ideal candidate has strong project management experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple installation projects while ensuring timelines, budgets, quality standards, and customer expectations are met.
This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring the ability to read floor plans and technical drawings, work directly with subcontractors in the field, and maintain a high level of attention to detail. Key Responsibilities
- Manage technology installation projects from kickoff to completion
- Coordinate with general contractors, building owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Lead project meetings, site reviews, and progress updates
- Plan and schedule installation teams, subcontractors, materials, and required resources
- Review project scope, drawings, timelines, change orders, and customer requirements
- Read and interpret floor plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to guide on-site installation work and identify potential conflicts early
- Conduct regular on-site walkthroughs to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance
- Build strong, professional relationships with subcontractors and trades on-site to keep projects moving smoothly and resolve issues efficiently
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget
- Track project milestones, risks, delays, deficiencies, and outstanding action items
- Communicate project updates clearly to customers, management, and internal departments
- Work closely with Sales, Procurement, Technical Support, Accounting, and installation teams
- Ensure proper documentation is completed, including work orders, project notes, closeout documents, and customer sign-offs
- Identify project issues early and escalate when needed
- Support continuous improvement of project workflows, hand-offs, and communication between departments
- Ensure all work is completed professionally, safely, and in alignment with company standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably in technology, construction, electrical, security, communications, nurse call, low-voltage, AV, or systems integration
- Fluency in both French and English (written and verbal) is required
- Experience working with general contractors, building owners, consultants, and installation teams
- Strong understanding of construction/project timelines and site coordination
- Ability to read and understand project scope documents, drawings, and technical requirements
- Detail-oriented reader of floor plans, blueprints, and construction drawings, with the ability to identify discrepancies before they become site issues
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Personable and approachable, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with subcontractors, trades, and site teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable working in both office and site environments
- Proficient with project management tools, CRM/ticketing systems, Google Suite, and general business and project management software
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites as required — a personal vehicle is mandatory for this role; mileage and fuel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy
Preferred Experience
- Experience with technology installations in healthcare, commercial, or institutional environments
- Experience managing subcontractors and field technicians
- Knowledge of low-voltage systems, access control, security, networking, or related technologies
- Experience reading architectural, electrical, or low-voltage floor plans and drawings on active job sites
- PMP certification or other project management training is considered an asset

- Project completed on or before the agreed target completion date (tracked as on-time vs. delayed, with reason for any delay)
- Number of schedule slippage days per project (target: minimal to zero unplanned delays)
Budget
- Project completed within approved budget (tracked as % variance from original budget/quote)
- Number and value of unapproved or unexplained cost overruns (target: zero)
Quality & Deficiencies
- Number of open deficiencies remaining at project closeout (target: zero to minimal outstanding items)
- Number of rework instances caused by installation or coordination errors
- Time taken to resolve deficiencies once identified (target: resolved within an agreed number of business days)
Documentation & Closeout
- Closeout package (work orders, sign-offs, project notes) submitted within an agreed number of days after project completion (e.g., within 5 business days)
- Completeness of documentation — all required sign-offs, drawings, and notes present with no follow-up requests needed
Customer Satisfaction
- Customer sign-off/approval obtained at project completion
- Customer satisfaction feedback score or survey result per project (where collected)
- Number of customer complaints or escalations during the project
Subcontractor & Site Management
- Subcontractor issues identified and resolved on-site without escalation to management (tracked as # of escalations per project)
- Site walkthrough/inspection completed at key milestones (tracked as completed vs. missed)
- Project updates provided to customers/management on the agreed schedule (e.g., weekly), with no missed updates
- Issues or risks escalated proactively before becoming project delays (tracked as proactive vs. reactive escalations)
Summary

Salary Range
