Qualifications

We also have extensive experience in fields such as civil, structural, process mechanical, building mechanical, electrical and instrumentation work. Position Summary

The Project Manager (PM) is ultimately responsible for the overall health, wealth & safety of the project.The PM is visionary of how a project will be created, implemented and managed to the successful completion. The PM will be the leader for overall positive approach to influencing the direction of the project in both words and actions.


Job Description
  • Create and/or choose a team for the project to successfully execute the goals by understanding each team member’s strengths and weaknesses. Making sure that the team comes together and works effectively and efficiently.
  • In consultation with the chosen HSE officer, the project specific safety site plan for the project.
  • The project specific schedule, choosing which approach is best for the project. i.e. Long CPM or simple Bar Chart. What truly do you & your client want? Ensure it is maintained for each project, defining the projects goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, staffing levels, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown structure, milestones, and deliverables.
  • An awards list with what your goals are and what you want achieved specific to each award. This includes time lines set which are realistic and achievable.
  • An Article “E” for submission which suit the project. Delegate to your appropriate project team member to chase shop drawings submission dates and all deliver dates according to the project requirements.
  • The CRX log and system for the project, ensure it is verified for the accuracy of changed orders and that they are signed by the client.
  • The RFI log and system for the project.
  • The maintenance of the equipment control log.
  • The operations and maintenance manuals.
  • The corresponding schedules.
  • The spare parts lists and salvaged equipment lists.
  • The owner communications, training plan, schedules and appropriate sign off documentation.
  • The quality control program that meets the requirement of the specific project.
  • For the cost control program specific to the project to address: Reviewing of the estimate, identifying specific areas for improving project margin(s), Quarterly forecasts, Bi-weekly meetings with Project and Trade Superintendents and Foreman, Month cost tracking, Creation of goals and tracking for each member of your team (Project Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Trades Superintendents, foremen and project coordinators).
  • Project Close Out; substantial completion, total completion and warranty call systems.
  • The Lessons Learned document to be implemented on a go forward basis for overall project improvements.
  • Recommend changes in the scope of work by envisioning problems, alternatives, etc., to drive success and to increase profits.
  • Accountable for the project team member’s work program including the monitoring of the project coordinators, HSE officers and supervisor’s responsibilities.
  • As you have delegated the work to the appropriate team members strengths be sure to be aware and check work completed as well in/out correspondence.
  • The CPM schedule must be maintained and checked for accuracy throughout the project.
  • Ensure a good working relationship with all subcontractors, suppliers and vendors.
  • Responsible for a good working relationship with our workers and any related unions including the ability to set a high standard for productivity and quality.
  • Closely monitor the efforts and billing of third-party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists.
Requirements
  • Construction related degree/diploma & approximately 10 years of construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training & experience
  • Experience working on Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant projects is an asset
  • Proven Project Management experience
  • Experience with facility commissioning/automation and closeout is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, planning, cost control & engineering drawings
  • Project management certification is an asset
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods
  • Intuitive grasp of organizational structure in order to manage cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary resource allocation
  • Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolutions skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professional, and upper management
  • Strong knowledge of financial management and internal controls
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
