Job summary

Descon Conveyor Systems, a Pacteon Company, seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead packaging- and processing-projects from initiation to completion. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, review AutoCAD/SolidWorks drawings, and manage schedules, budgets and client communication to deliver on-time results.

You will travel as needed to customer sites and assist with contract and vendor coordination, ensuring high-quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in business, engineering or PM is preferred.
• PM experience from initiation to completion is required.
• Familiar with MS Project and Smartsheet and MS Office/Excel.
• Ability to read AutoCAD drawings is an asset.
• Travel on short notice; must hold passport & driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Manage all project details to meet Descon and customer satisfaction.
• Use scheduling, budgeting, reporting and sign-off processes.
• Track timelines and communicate with stakeholders to stay on schedule.
• Review drawings with engineering and support project execution.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure timely delivery.
• Uphold contract obligations and assist with vendor coordination.
• Attend customer sites as required and ensure billing accuracy.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage and understand all project-related details to ensure tasks are completed to Descon’s and its customers’ satisfaction.
• Use organizational tools to effectively manage multiple projects, including scheduling, budgeting, status reporting, and final customer sign off.
• Track and manage project timelines, communicating clearly with internal and external stakeholders to keep projects on schedule.
• Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to locate, review, and update project related information; develop expertise in the layout details of assigned projects.
• Provide support to ensure the successful delivery of projects and site services as required.
• Maintain a strong understanding of contractual obligations related to projects and site services to ensure accurate customer billing.
• Attend customer job sites as required.
• Develop a thorough understanding of Descon’s purchasing, spare parts, quoting, and project database systems.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on Descon products, suppliers, customers, and competitors.
• Motivate cross-functional teams and onsite crews to deliver high-quality results efficiently.
• Review project details and drawings with Descon’s engineering teams and participate in project conceptualization and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Project Management is an asset.
• Proven experience managing projects from initiation through completion.
• Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) and Microsoft Office/Excel.
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings is an asset.
• Ability to develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Strong risk management and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder and client-facing communication.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
• Experience tracking project performance, reporting status, and managing change
• requests.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing requirements.
• Knowledge of contract management and vendor coordination is an asset.
• PMP, or similar project management certifications are an asset.
• Willingness to travel on short notice; must hold a valid passport, driver’s license, and have no travel restrictions to the USA.
• Previous experience in a client-facing role within the food and beverage packaging industry is considered a strong asset.
• A minimum of five (5) years of project management experience, preferably within a manufacturing, packaging, or industrial environment, is required.
