Job description

Quality Craftsmanship for over 50 years.

Nova Wood Products Limited, established in 1972 and located in the picturesque UNESCO heritage town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, is a leader in architectural woodwork. Their facilities have grown into a large, modern manufacturing plant equipped with state-of-the-art CNC machines, CAD software, and advanced finishing equipment. As one of the largest custom shops in Atlantic Canada, they specialize in producing high-quality millwork, custom casework, architectural woodwork, and finish carpentry, primarily serving commercial and institutional customers in the construction industry across Atlantic Canada and New England. Their location and commitment to excellence provide employees with an exceptional work-life balance.

On their behalf, we are seeking a Project Manager to join a dynamic team committed to excellence. This full-time, permanent role involves leading projects to successful completion by ensuring they stay on budget, on schedule, and exceed client expectations. With opportunities for professional growth, including potential advancement to Senior Project Manager and eligibility for the Management Team, this position is ideal for ambitious and resourceful professionals. We encourage candidates with a strong background in construction management and woodworking to apply and take the next step in their careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management:
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of project scope and objectives while creating and maintaining detailed project documentation. Develop and manage intricate project schedules and work plans, ensuring alignment with timelines and objectives. Oversee procurement activities, including material purchasing and order tracking, to support seamless project execution.
  • Client Engagement:
Foster strong client relationships by managing daily communications, setting and aligning expectations, and delivering exceptional service. Cultivate trust and collaboration with client personnel while proactively identifying opportunities for business development and value-added sales.
  • Strategic Problem-Solving:
Effectively address and resolve challenges with a solutions-oriented approach, escalating complex issues when necessary. Implement innovative strategies to reduce waste, improve operational efficiencies, and enhance project outcomes. Stay abreast of emerging technologies to integrate cutting-edge solutions into project processes.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in AutoCAD, with post-secondary education in Finish Carpentry, Cabinet Making or Carpentry. Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office and Microvellum are valuable additional qualifications. Success in this role requires a logical and analytical approach to problem-solving, strong technical aptitude, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. A high level of organization, reliability, self-motivation, and proactivity are essential, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nova Wood Products offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes a group health and dental program, a profit-sharing plan, and a group RRSP. Employees will also have access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities, promoting both personal and professional growth.

Venor and Nova Wood Products embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace.
