Job summary

Glencore International AG is seeking a Geology and Data Management Specialist to support legacy mine environments. You will manage geological databases, assist in 3D geological modelling, and ensure data quality across historic and current datasets.

Based in Toronto with travel to sites in Canada and the US about 25%, the role blends office work with field activities, requires 5–8 years of relevant experience, and offers a base salary of CAD 88,000 to CAD 121,000 plus a discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or related Earth Science discipline.
• 5-8 years of experience in mining, exploration, or geological data management.
• Familiarity with Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, and GIS platforms.
• Experience with Excel and geological database management tools.
• Understanding QA/QC, sampling techniques, and data validation.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Good spatial reasoning and 3D visualization skills.
• Ability to work remotely and in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in geological reviews of legacy mine sites, assessing remaining mineral potential and data quality.
• Support closure teams and business development with geological input on ground conditions, historical workings, and materials characterization.
• Manage and maintain geological databases and file sets for both current and historical data, ensuring consistency, traceability, and quality.
• Compile, validate, and maintain geological, resource and mining data from historic operations.
• Work with the senior geologist to reconcile and standardize old datasets into modern data management systems.
• Support compliance and reporting obligations, including technical documentation, resource estimates, data QA/QC, and coordination with environmental or closure teams.
• Assist in preparing data and reports for claims management and internal compliance with NI 43-101 or JORC standards (if applicable).
• Develop and update 3D geological and resource models (using e.g. Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, etc.).
• Integrate geological, geophysical, and geochemical datasets to improve understanding of mineralized systems.
• Prepare maps, sections, and visualizations using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for reporting and presentation.
• Support ongoing reconciliation between models, historic drilling data, and production information.
• Evaluate historical datasets (reports, drill and assay logs, reports) to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for resource re-assessment or re-interpretation.
• Assist with developing and executing claims management and sampling programs, including HSEC planning, site preparation, sampling protocols, and coordination with contractors.
• Supervise sample collection, preparation, and QA/QC processes to ensure data integrity.

The role in a nutshell:

In this role, you will support the Technical Services Team in legacy mine environments through claims management, geological data management, and digital modelling. The role combines office-based and some ad-hoc geology field work, providing exposure to a broad range of geological and data management tasks such as GIS data handling, geological modelling, and the integration and management of historical datasets for resource and reserve interpretation.

More specifically, you will be expected to:

Do you have what it takes?

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• 5-8 years of experience in mining, exploration, or geological data management.
• Familiarity with geological modelling software such as Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, and GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and geological database management tools (e.g., acQuire, Datashed, MX Deposit).
• Understanding of QA/QC protocols, sampling techniques, and data validation processes.
• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Good spatial reasoning and 3D visualization skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in remote field environments and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective communicator with good technical writing and presentation skills.
• Interest in continuous learning and professional growth in geology and data technologies.

Travel:

You will be required to travel to the different sites in Canada and USA approximately 25% of the time.

Language

Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory. The knowledge of French is beneficial.

Location:

Corporate office in Toronto when not travelling to sites.

The expected base salary for this position is 88 000 $ to 121 000$, based on competencies, skills, and qualifications and aligned with internal equity. The incumbent will also be eligible to participate in a variable compensation plan (bonus) (note: payment of variable compensation is subject to the terms and conditions of the variable compensation plan and is not guaranteed).
