Job summary

SYSTRA Canada is seeking a senior finance professional to lead procurement for complex projects, assist the project manager with planning, monitoring, and controlling budgets, and coordinate client billing.

You will monitor procurement activities, financial commitments and project costs to support profitability, and provide meaningful financial analysis across multiple projects. The role requires bilingual communication and strong collaboration with project teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in administration or equivalent required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar project management/finance role.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and oral communication in French and English.
  • Experience with procurement, budgeting, billing and financial analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial oversight of complex projects with focus on material purchasing and BOM management.
  • Monitor procurement activities, commitments and project costs to support budget performance.
  • Produce financial analysis on variances, risks, profitability and cost trends across projects.
  • Coordinate month-end processes, WIP, billing and budget updates.
  • Partner with project managers as a senior finance advisor and drive improvements in financial processes.

SYSTRA Canada is part of the SYSTRA group, an international consulting and engineering group, a world leader in the design of transport infrastructures. SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway.

Context

The ideal candidate will handle procurement for the project, assist the project manager in planning, monitoring, and controlling budgets, and coordinate and prepare client billing.

Missions/Main Duties
  • Lead the financial oversight of complex projects with a strong focus on material purchasing and BOM management.
  • Monitor procurement activities, financial commitments, and project costs to support budget performance and profitability.
  • Deliver meaningful financial analysis on variances, risks, profitability, and cost trends across projects.
  • Coordinate core financial control processes, including month-end activities, work in progress, billing, and budget updates.
  • Partner with project managers as a senior finance advisor and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting tools.
Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor's degree in administration or equivalent education.

Years of Experience: 5-7 years of experience in a similar project management role.

Technical Skills
  • Excellent proficiency in the Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in MS Project (an asset).
  • Knowledge in the technical field of transportation (an asset).
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, in French and English.*
