Sedgman Vancouver is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead cost estimation for complex mining and mineral processing projects. Based in our Vancouver office, you will drive estimating activities, collaborate with engineers and stakeholders, and improve estimating databases and tools.

You will manage risk assessments, ensure alignment with time, cost, and quality targets, and contribute to continuous improvement across estimating systems.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of estimating experience in engineering or construction environments, mining sector preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with high-level proofreading and document quality control.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate estimates for multiple studies/projects.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients, stakeholders and cross-functional teams on cost estimates.
  • Experience with estimating databases, systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Sedgman is currently recruiting for an Estimator, with hands‑on experience driving estimating activities across complex engineering studies and projects. This person will be based out of our Vancouver office.

The Estimator role is responsible for leading the preparation of accurate cost estimates for engineering projects within the mining and mineral processing industry. The role oversees stakeholder collaboration, risk assessment, and the maintenance and continuous improvement of estimating systems, data, and processes to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, for studies/projects, ensuring alignment with time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Lead and collaborate with engineers, and stakeholders to develop estimates and risk assessments.
  • Maintain and improve estimating systems, databases, templates, and cost records, including final design take-offs.
  • Track, report, and manage estimating activities.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve estimating databases, price books, templates, and spreadsheets.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating risk management processes and tools.
What are we looking for? Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' experience estimating within engineering or construction environments in the mining industry
  • Experience in developing estimates from AACE Class 1 to Class 5.
  • Experience with @Risk or similar risk management software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including high‑level proofreading and document quality control
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate estimates for multiple studies/projects simultaneously
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders and cross‑functional teams when developing cost estimates
  • Experience with estimating systems, databases, and continuous improvement initiatives

Salary Range: $120,000 - 150,000
